Long thought to only be a problem in the posh West Ranch area, graffiti artists taggers have struck Newhall several times in the last few weeks. Their illegible chicken-scratches, spray-painted on open walls and flat surfaces, don't convey much information other than to their intended audience, presumably fellow taggers.
I spotted these fresh tags below, on a brick enclosure near the Washington Mutual bank on Lyons Ave. and Apple Street.
One hopes this fad dies out again soon. It's been several years since I've seen tagging in Santa Clarita.
I called the City about this at approximately 9am on Saturday, July 15 2006. Let's see how fast the City's innovative anti-graffiti program responds.
EDIT: By 8:30 am Monday, the City had whitewashed the wall. Bravo!
