Yes, I’m a geek. I actually timed it and set up my video camera to record the sonic booms. Here’s the short YouTube video that resulted.
I was curious what I would hear first- the sonic boom from the television, which is delayed by NASA and the satellite downlink (out to space and back) or the real sonic boom which is also delayed by several seconds, since it has to travel about 50 miles from the Antelope Valley to Santa Clarita.
As it turned out, I heard the real sonic boom first. The sonic boom on the TV happened several minutes later (meaning NASA delays the transmission).
Anyway- did you hear and feel it? It set off car alarms here in Newhall.
