I’m really sorry I missed that Council meeting with the PSA and I am thrilled that someone has FINALLY got the attention of the City Council and Carl. Alan Cameron has been on different sides of issues than me over the years, but it sounds like the PSA got busy. I might have to donate to the cause. Not than I am particularly against the Hotel, but I think the Council has been in rubber stamp mode for too long and it is about time that they start paying attention to the citizens once again. Hear dat mayor dude?

Mike, They will be posting the debates on-line at scvtv.com. They will be playing (no schedule set) on channel 20 and will be re-broadcasting on KHTS. Only 4 of the candidates showed up, so they combined the candidates for seats 1 and 3.

On the COC election: Four star lock on Joan MacGregor the incumbent retaining her seat. On the other side I got nothin’! Michael Berger has more local name recognition but Brian Koegle might actually be running a real campaign. This might be one where the ballot position ends up dictating the winner.

On the Hart Boundary Changes Ironic the guy who is quoted as complaining is not impacted by the change. The Hart District always grandfathers in siblings of students who are already in the school so that transportation is not disrupted. It really only effects people who are not right now aware of the change because it is years from having an impact.

Jeff, with all do respect, regarding the bicycling “anywhere you drive a car” comment, I have a question: My mother-in-law got pulled over years ago for going below the speed limit. If a bicyclist cannot keep up on McBean at 45mph, should they have the same responsibilities as motorists, and KEEP UP or get ticketed?

Ivogel what about the lack of lights while riding at night? I see this all the time. The laws need to be enforced. It is terrible when someone is hit while riding their bike, for both families. It is also terrible when someone is charged with manslaughter for hitting a biker that was not following the laws or properly outfitted. I hope Jeff would agree that bike riders need to follow the laws of the road, all of the laws.

Cash: When exactly was a motorist charged with Manslaughter after striking a bike rider who was violating the rules or not properly equipped?

I’m laughing pretty good right now cash; it’s funny you should mention not having lights…..my mother in law got pulled over once for that infraction, also!

OK Timmy I read enough to be more than just a little convinced that riding a bike on the street in busy traffic is foolish and often deadly. No matter the cause of the accident, the rider loses. This is not likely to change and the more riders we have the more terrible accidents we will have. All the yelling by the cycle community that they have equal rights to the road will not stop this. Some die riding in the bike lanes because cars and bikes don’t mix, even if there is a bike lane stripe and a little bike figure painted on the street.

That car had a flat front tire before the Pitt maneuver. You can see it weaving before the contact due to the flat. The sparks are because the driver drove on the flat until it disintegrated, causing the metal wheel to spark on the pavement.
