A worthy message

A good message from Assemblyman Smyth. Yes it plays on my emotions and fondness for fury four legged animals, but so what! It should.

BTW, he sponsored a bill that would give a small tax credit to people who save a pet’s life in a shelter. The bill was signed into law last year.

    Well he failed with the DVC, did not support insurance for children, but he helped save mans best friend (the snake). The video must have been a favor to council member Weste. All kidding aside, a worthy cause. BTW, I’ll chip in a few bucks to help Cam get a new suit. I think I can claim it as a contribution or a tax credit. I’ll be looking for a nice dog soon.

    I guess its the children’s fault they don’t have health insurance because they schemed and plotted to be born to poor or unemployed parents. By the way, Junior, the budding economist, during our last visit to San Diego got very worked up about how Michaeal Vick spent YEARS in prison for killing dogs but that other football players who killed HUMANS spent hardly a day or NO days in prison. Are we f’ed up as a race or what?

    Interestingly, I believe Smyth didn’t support Prop 2 to help the plight of chickens that are used for egg laying here in CA and live out their lives in a space ‘smaller’ than a piece standard notebook paper. If you saw the picture in the LA Times of this situation, you’d have to wonder why Smyth was against such animal cruelty . . . he later went on to say that the Prop didn’t stop out of state egg producers from being subject to this new law. Well, when the Prop 2 passed, the issue he noted was quickly solved by an amendment by the legislature (although I don’t know how he voted on this issue) . . . thus his allegiance to the CA Chamber of Commerce over animal cruelty in this case was clear. So while I welcome his position on animals in shelters, I guess it was an easier call since corporate profits weren’t in play . . .

    Petz opposed the needless complication of the state tax code with yet another credit. The justification equating animal and child adoption was particularly offensive . Petz are not people too ! Simplify , and cut taxes so that the people can rationally spend the their own money…not their neighbors. Support
