I have a suggestion for Steve Lunetta. Now that he has profiled the brave efforts of a white man to civilize the savages in Newhall, he ought to turn his attention to the neglected west side, the really dangerous part of town.

I’m white and fearful in the “tough, gang-infested streets of Newhall”, but I really step carefully when I’m in Stevenson Ranch, lest I end up like Eddie Politelli, who was stabbed to death in broad daylight, or Josh Pipho, who was murdered at a party, or that West Ridge businessman who was executed at a Christmas party in December. I keep my eyes open for any gun-nuts who like to shoot at Sheriff’s Deputies and I’m wary when I get out of my car in Valencia, lest someone shoot me in the chest.

I’m sure Lunetta will get around to writing about missionaries who go to that side of town right? If Newhall is so hard core, surely Stevenson Ranch is like the 3rd circle of hell right? That would really require a brave missionary. Way beyond Johnny Appleseed, we’re talking Davey Crockett skill and bravery.

Keep up the good fight Steve. Remember, as long as the Mexican produce trucks don’t start honking their funny horns on the streets of Grannery Square or Northbridge, you’re winning the battle to keep the infection in Newhall before it spreads to the rest of the SCV.

    From Dave Rentz’s Web Site: “In May I spoke at the funeral mass of a 17 year old who had died and accompanied his family to bury him in Guanajuato, Mexico. Having missed about 2 weeks of teaching, I’m short around $800 this month and now out of money if you could help I would very much appreciate it! Thanks, DR” He also got a Gateway Laptop from his ‘church’ and Masters College. Several things came to mind when I read this Steve Lunetta column and I read this man’s mission statement: Sounds like Lunetta is a fearful man; most of these punks already believe in Jesus and advertise it with crosses hanging around their necks or with a tattoo (or 2)and if ‘their’ church cannot convince them their actions are immoral, well….; this sounds like nothing more than an endorsement for donations to yet another ‘church’ and I wonder if Mr. Dentz was able to get that $800.00 that he lost traveling?

Too late! My “hood” in Canyon Country already has trucks selling lots of stuff honking their “funny horns” and street vendors hawking their wares up and down residential streets using air horns to draw attention. Yuck…

    Well Berta, you should call ex-cop Kellar to call his current cop pals to arrest the law breakers. Although that would mean Kellar does something other than just agitate and spout divisive garbage! Let us know how that works out! Meanwhile, quit bitching about lawbreakers if you aren’t taking any action! I also live in Canyon Country, in a nice neighborhood as opposed to a ‘hood’! Maybe it’s your perception which allows these things to fester!

    I have called Mr. Kellar in the past and he did just as Brian suggests. He is one council member that is not afraid to ask the Captain to enforce the laws. If that does not work, email the Captain directly. I have found him to be very responsive. One second thought, emailing the Captain may be the best, that way when he enforces the laws, he can’t be called a racist.

    That’s incredible! I’ve never heard a ‘rap’ song sound so peaceful before. There’s only certain rap I like, Flobots being my all time fav., but having it sung so beautifully just doesn’t feel right. WHERE’S THE ANGER!

    Best I could do with 15 year old Paint Shop Pro I so suck in the graphics department But this cover fulfills a boyhood fantasy of mine: to be in a gangster rap band (group? posse? crew?)

    The other guy was “Arabian Price”, he left NWA in 1988 when Cube joined. Worst name ever. Yella pretty much bolted from music after a solo record and produced a few things here and there and then got into producing porn! MC Ren still makes music, he had an album out last year. One of the nicest guys ever!!

In the interest of politically correct speech however I would prefer gal, or heck even girl, to “broad” since it is an old term and unfortunately anatomically descriptive and accurate these days.     Cash among those mentioned, the only term I would consider truly offensive is “b@#$%”. The others, depending on the circumstances, could be considered compliments at my age. My papa called me honey all the time for instance. In my day, a few fellas said I was a babe and my girlfriends thought my wardrobe was very chic. I have been known to squeeze hard when hugging grandkids too. I think people take all of this stuff way too far. You can use any word, even a lovely word like “mother”, and make it ugly with context, tone of voice, body language, etc. Navigator: Thanks for getting my humor! ND: it was franglish. Funny thing is most did not get it. Extra points for you.

    I wish I had produce trucks in my neighborhood. Beats junk food trucks masquerading as ice cream trucks.
