Another fire. Another freeway closure. Traffic snarled. Again.

I have officially run out of room on my scorecard.  Forgive me for sounding like a spoiled teenager; but is this the third or fourth time we have shut down part of the Newhall Pass in the past 2 weeks?  From ABC7:

A brush fire has erupted off the 5 Freeway near Weldon Canyon Road and all lanes of northbound traffic have been shut down.

The fire was reported around 11:40 a.m. with initial reports saying that cars were actually driving through flames.

County and city firefighters are battling the blaze from the ground.

KHTS says the fire is knocked down and the 5 will open again shortly:

UPDATED 12:40 P.M. WEDNESDAY: The northbound I-5 will re-open soon; all lanes were closed to accomodate fire equipment being used on a two-acre brush fire just south of Calgrove.

Firefighters have announced they have knockdown as of 12:34 p.m.

County Fire PIO Stephanie English reported that The Old Road is being used for a command post for the fire.  Smoke blowing across traffic lanes way caused a safety hazard, and the need to park firefighting equipment closed the freeway lanes.

Thank goodness for our firefighters.

Another fire. Another freeway closure. Traffic snarled. Again.
