  • Private sector employers added 230,000 jobs in the month of March, which resulted in the unemployment rate falling to 8.8%. Government sector jobs decreased, however, with 14,000 layoffs, so a total of 216,000 jobs were added last month. GOOD NEWS
  • Thousands turn out to say goodbye to Spc. Rudy Acosta, who was killed in Afghanistan two weeks ago and was laid to rest yesterday at Eternal Valley SIGNAL, KHTS
  • The homeless woman who died at Mayo’s ER used to sing choir at a local Lutheran Church. Friends are remembering her today at a Hart Park memorial SIGNAL
  • More info on the Pioneer Oil Refinery renovation in Newhall SIGNAL
  • Releasing the news at midnight, the City has stealth-appointed a group of high schoolers to the new Santa Clarita Library Board of Trustees according to KHTS
  • Also, the City is adtoping a new policy that will bring bilingual signage to all businesses in the SCV KHTS
  • Finally- would you pay a toll charge to use the Cross Valley Connector? The City says it could raise $3 to $5 million every year if a toll plan is adopted KHTS
  • City’s Discovery Park wins award WRB
  • Reminder: A meeting will be held Monday to discuss the County’s draft bicycle plan. 6pm at Hart Hall in Newhall COUNTY

    Hooray for KHTS. I love the Gail Ortiz quote “The phone survey is just so we can gauge initial reaction. From what I can tell you, so far most Santa Clarita residents have no problem with it.”

    The cross valley connector as a toll road? No way. That would be a disaster, me thinks. Most would avoid it. Horrible idea.

    You all really need to read to the end of the articles cited. The stories on KHTS re: the bilingual signs and cross valley connector were jokes.
