- A 41 year old woman and 11 year old girl are dead after their SUV slammed into the center divider on I-5 near Gorman yesterday. The collision "spawned others as cars hit wreckage and each other or spun out trying to avoid crashing into the SUV" says the Signal. Four others were critically injured as well. The CHP says the people in the SUV were family and were returning from a Labor Day trip SIGNAL

- And on Orchard Village Road near Dalbey, a 55 year old female cyclist was struck by a drive who fled the scene. The cyclist suffered injuries to her head, but her injuries aren't life-threatening. Police say a blue Honda Civic or Accord struck her and the car likely has front-end damage SIGNAL
- Meanwhile at Golden Valley Road & Centre Point Parkway, a semi-truck crashed into a Buick, sending the driver and passenger of the Buick to Mayo hospital with minor injuries SIGNAL
- One of the bills Cameron Smyth pushed for before his final day in the Assembly would restore vehicle license fees to cities across the state. Santa Clarita could receive $400,000 or potentially much more if VLF goes to cities rather than Sacramento. But the Governor still needs to sign it. SIGNAL
- The Newhall School District will go forward with a plan to have a company install solar power infrastructure at its schools then lease electricity from that same company over the next 20 years. Not everyone on the NSD Board was sold though; Sue Solomon worried that the company hasn't been in business long. No competitive bid was undertaken because there is no cost to the district. - The SCV Beacon has another one of those anonymous reports about the hospital, but this one is making an explosive, totally-unverified claim that Henry Mayo Hospital's ICU Unit has been put under quarantine due to a patient's infection and the resulting "contamination" of the ICU. The anonymous post goes on to say that Mayo is refusing to inform state Public Health regulators. BEACON
- Democrats will open their new SCV election headquarters on Sunday according to the Beacon. The HQ is at the corner of Lyons & Peachland and State Senator Fran Pavley, Congressional Candidate Lee Rogers and Ed Headington are expected to attend the grand opening from 4 to 7pm BEACON
