- Council agenda: On the agenda tomorrow night at City Hall: approval to cosign a letter to Senators Boxer & Feinstein opposing sequestration cuts (citing the possibility that "clearly local jobs will be impacted"), purchase of a 5 acre tract of land in Wildwood Canyon for preservation, agreement with another county to purchase six commuter buses for a cost of $3.78 million, and, OMG, could it be, a real live historic preservation ordinance. - A three year old Valencia girl died at a hospital Friday evening after nearly drowning in a Canyon Country pool. Rescue personnel were called to the pool at around 7:30pm Friday night, and the child was flown to Children's Hospital Los Angeles, but Doctors weren't able to save her and she died at 10:30pm. - Not many details on this one, but a body was found yesterday evening in a car in Canyon Country on Lost Springs road. Homicide detectives are investigating SIGNAL
- August real estate numbers are in, and they aren't bad. Median SFR prices were $375k, up $25k from July with 220 homes changing owners. Condos rose in median prices too from $170k in July to $176k in August with 103 sold. Interestingly, inventory of homes for sale is at an all-time lowest. Even bank-owned homes stocks are low. A realtor interviewed says the low inventory is due in part to "a third of current owners still owe more than their homes are worth, making it difficult for them to list for sale." KHTSCVTV

- Buck McKeon introduces bill to study the Cemex problem on the last day of the legislative session in the House. The City, by way of Frank Ferry, is "pleased," but Andy Fried sees a political ploy and says McKeon is disingenuous while Lee Rogers, his opponent, says it's clear McKeon did this because of the election The bill is not a companion bill to Sen. - A woman whose unruly dog died after being tied a fence at a Canyon Country dog grooming shop has organized a large Facebook group to try to shut the groomer down. The dog apparently was misbehaving and possibly bit one of the groomers, so workers tied it up outside where it struggled to get free and ultimately choked to death. The dog's owners deny it bit anyone and have built a Facebook page with 2,600 followers and are trying to attract more media attention than just the Signal. FACEBOOK, SIGNAL

- A brand new motorhome rolled 300 feet down a ravine near Gorman Friday and essentially disintegrated. No one was hurt but I link to this because I find the pictures interesting SIGNAL
