Anaheim Man Cuffed After SCV Sting: A Sheriff's Station sting operation culminated with the arrest yesterday of a 44-year-old Anaheim man, on charges he carried on a sexual relationship with an underage girl. KHTS
A Bill With Issues: Sen. Steve Knight said he voted no on a bill that would ban the display or sale by the state of the Confederate flag because there were "constitutional issues" with the entire bill. Jessica Boyer's piece doesn't touch on what any of those issues are, but Knight pointed out the ACLU had problems with the bill, too. KHTS
Murder Case Going Back to Trial: Almost two years after being arrested, a Saugus man is heading back to court to face charges that he murdered his live-in girlfriend. KHTS The Signal
Unsafe at That Speed: The Nissan 300z that was driven by a COC student who remains in critical condition was traveling at speeds faster than freeway traffic when it crashed on San Fernando Road Friday night, investigators said. Of 120 Sacramento Legislators, three voted against banning the Confederate Flag and one of those three Legislators was our very own Senator Steve Knight. Even his mentor, Scott Wilk had the good sense to vote yes. Astonishing....

I understand what the confederate flag (and Knight) stands for and find it repugnant, but there are free speech issues , hence the ACLU's ambivalence, too.

I guess for Don it is Ok for the ACLU to have constitutional issues with the bill but not for Steve Knight. I wonder what the logic is behind that?

Oh, Phil, you are so crazy (though I suspect that a lot of the time that the nutty things you say are just snide, ideological posturing). It's just the opposite of what you "wonder". There are free speech issues and it's "Ok" for the ACLU, Knight, and me to recognize them I don't know where the stars and bars stand on the repugnancy scale vis a vis the swastika, e.g., but the issues are the same. It's not whose speech is being gored, or, maybe, even, what it's content is, but the right to express it. Can't someone champion slavery, secession, Reaganomics, or nazism?

I am crazy because I questioned why it was OK for the ACLU to be opposed to the bill but Steve you deemed Steve to be reupugnant for doing the same. That appears to be quite an ideologial (not logical) stand. Don, your posturing is well known here. Accusing me of your traits (including being crazy) is a weak attempt to hide these traits. If you can't own what you say, perhaps you should think through what you say - before you click on the submit button,

Phil, the ACLU's oppoisiton appears to be based on a comment to the OC Register based a restriction that was in the original bill, but was removed before it passed either house. I've been trying to get clarification from the person quoted for a few days. No luck yet, but I'll share his reponse when I get it.
