  • Saugus District Facing Lawsuit: "That disregard for minority citizens in the SUSD was put on full display in 2013 when Stephen Winkler, one of five Trustees on the SUSD Board, was found to have posted internet comments expressing support for Nazism, slavery and segregation." The Saugus Union School District has been hit with a lawsuit alleging its at-large election system is in violation of the California Voting Rights Act. KHTS
  • Running Amok: It's not every day you hear of suspects "running amok" in Santa Clarita, but apparently that's what happened yesterday before one afro'd and one mohawked man were arrested. The Signal
  • COC Electing to Make Changes: The county Board of Supervisors voted down placing College of the Canyons' board elections to the county ballot, but the college is still planning to change to holding elections in the November of even-numbered years starting in 2016. The Signal
  • SCV Schools Make the List: Canyon, Saugus, Valencia and West Ranch high schools made the list of the 100 California high schools with the lowest dropout rates. SacBee
  • End of Watch, 13 Years On: It was 10:40 a.m., this day in 2002, when sheriff's Deputy and SCV resident David March was shot and killed during a traffic stop in Irwindale. His killer fled to Mexico, and over the next several years officials pursued and finally caught and arrested him. SCV History
  • Groundbreaking News from Sulphur Springs District: Valley View Community School is holding a groundbreaking for its new annex for special needs students. As part of the Measure CK work, the school will also modernize its administration building and playground, and reconstruct the parking area. KHTS
  • Dems Working on Their Knight Moves: "We will work tirelessly to highlight how out-of-step 'One-Term Wonders' like Knight are with their constituents, and we’re confident that they’ll return the favor and 'drop' him next fall."     Word on the street is that Sulphur Springs is facing financial difficulties because they didn't use enough of their Measure CK funds to pay off existing Certificate of Participation debt.
