SCV Students protest Iraq War

Unless you were driving around "downtown" Santa Clarita last Saturday, you probably didn't know that a large (by SCV standards) protest occurred. The protest wasn't covered by the Signal, Daily News or the other typical SCV media outlets, but it was significant in that it was organized and led by students. The students, most of them from area high schools and colleges, had gathered on that warm Saturday evening to protest the Iraq war. The four corners at McBean and Valencia have become the de facto location in the SCV to stage protests and the students took full advantage of the visibilty. This is the second protest I've covered at that location. In the interests of fairness, you can view my other video on a pro-war/support the troops* rally organized by a local GOP activist back in May. *To me, "support the troops" is largely a meaningless phrase. It's bandied about so much and used by the different sides to bludgeon each other that it's largely useless. However, I think both the pro-war people and the anti-war protesters genuinely want the best for American soldiers and Marines in Iraq; they differ in how to support them (ie pull them out of Iraq or write them letters/send packages/organize the home front). The true debate is whether we ought to continue prosecuting this multi-faceted war.
