From the mouth of babes to Mayor Dude

Attributed to Jeff Wilson (editor-supplied)

No respect for authority from Joe, of Canyon High, to Mayor Dude on the question, “What would you do if you were Mayor?”:

Joe From Canyon High: If I was the Mayor for a day I dont know what I would do. Well one thing is for certain I would never make a website called mayordude. Even though you are trying to appeal to the younger generation by being hip and cool yoou just look like a idiot. Why would you pose on a extra large skateboard with a phone in your hand and a backwards hat on? Oh, I get it, that just how you see every kid; as some punk who is always texting and is upto no good skateboarding around calling everyone Dude.

Mayor Dude: Hi Joe, thanks for the message. I’m sorry if the mayordude site offends you. We are just trying to provide new and innovative ways to reach out to young people. If you have some ideas for us, please let us know! In the meantime, chill, ok? Thanks, Mayor dude.

hehehe. Actually, I see punks “always texting and up to no good stakeboarding” everywhere in my neighborhood.  Pull your damn pants up!

I also liked this one, where young Kristen explains her aversion to driving:

Kristen H- Gr. 6: As mayor for a day I would build more gyms with basketball and volleyball courts. I practice volleyball at the SCV Sports Complex. The Sports Complex is on the other side of town so that means when I drive there I’m polluting the Earth. So if there was a complex in Saugus, I could probably ride my bike there, or walk. I think if there were more gyms where kids could practice sports, more kids would join sports because they wouldn’t have to play outside in the mud or bad temperatures.

Mayor Dude: hi Kristen, thanks for much for the message. Living in Saugus, you are fortunate to be near Central Park! That is our largest park with 130 acres. We will be adding new stuff there over the next few years including a water play area, a gym and an amphitheatre. I’m glad you are concerned about the earth. Did you go to Earth Day at Central Park? Thanks again for the message. Best, Mayor dude.

Good Call Kristen! If I had a dog park in Newhall, I wouldn’t have to drive occasionally to Central Bark. We need good and full parks amenities in all four corners of Santa Clarita.

This one is especially endearing:

LouisJ-Gr.6: I would open small companies for jobless people to try and help them make money .I will plant more trees to give us a greener city. I will even declare a yearly go-cart race for children (with adult supervision of course.) I plan to open an art and literature museum for children to express themselves.

Mayor Dude: Dear Louis J: Thank you for your message and your great ideas. I like the go cart race idea! Did you know the City plants over 1,000 trees in the City every year? I hope I can visit your art and literature museum for children, it sounds really fun. Thanks for writing. Best, Mayor dude.

Nice to see our kids so concerned about the environment. When I was growing up, about the only thing we were told not to do was litter. Today’s kids are getting an A-Z education in eco-friendliness.
