Reshaped California Congressional Districts could push Santa Clarita south into a district with more Democrats by 2011. Such a redistricting would mean that CA-25 would begin north of here, encompass much of Kern County, and have a ‘ripple effect’ across the state. McKeon would likely face a much tougher challenge getting elected in a new district. Jeff: NSD is four candidates for three seats. Incumbents Steve Tannehill and Bob Jensen are stepping down (Jensen to run for Hart Board) Mike McGrath was defending his seat, but then withdrew, though he will probably still win. The three candidates are the lovely Christy Smith, Craig Duswalt and Phil Ellis. There is a fourth candidate who has not campaigned. In fact, according to local legend, only Tammy Marshalian of the Signal has actually gotten him live on the telephone! Otherwise, he has not responded to emails or phone messages to arrange candidate forums, etc.

5,000 Year Leap “looks good”?? Shark has done jumped. Joe is off my ballot.

Joe’s Answer: “The book looks good. I agree our educational system REALLY needs to go back to basics. BUT I would be reluctant to have them teach moral values. Do you really want State or Federally mandated “Moral Values” taught? I prefer to handle that instruction at home. Thanks” I am not familiar with this ‘5000 Year Leap’ book. However, I do agree with Joe that being taught ‘moral values’ should not be part of our childrens instruction at school, just as religion should not be. I still have not made up my mind yet, but I’m not going to cross him off yet…well not til I look at this book that he thinks looks ‘good’.

I can’t blame Joe for his answer about the book. Until recently this was an obscure, dead book taken seriously by no one. Then Glenn Beck entered the realm and now it’s popular. It’s a really creepy book. Read about it at that SALON link. It’s understandable how people might not know about it. I too liked his answer about the prayer in school thing.

On second consideration, he was being polite to the person posing the question. I agree with the substance of his answer. Sorry Joe, you are back on.
