I believe it’s important to own what I write, and to that end, I’ve been very dissapointed in myself recently after I reported two stories that were false or misleading.
Last week I reported that a local magazine had gone out of business. That was based solely off my inability to get to said magazine’s website and the fact that I hadn’t seen the magazine in awhile. I turned out to be completely wrong and probably caused a lot of headaches for the magazine’s publisher. I apologize for that.
Then today I completely misread a story about Senator George Runner. Based partly off an AV Press report, I thought the Senator was soon going to leave his position to seek another elected office. Turns out, he’s not doing that at all. I jumped to conclusions and misrepresented facts.
I try to be fast and accurate when I write the Daily Brief and unfortunately sometimes mistakes slip through. I want what you read here to be factually correct insofar as I’m able to determine it, and I want it to be stimulating and thought-provoking.
So I apologize for these errors and promise to step up my game in the future.
