A Strange Ending for 2009

It struck me as I was writing today’s Daily Brief- what a weird end of the year the SCV had! Usually it’s slow around these parts but it was tough to keep up with all the news this year (thanks NickelDime & Tim Myers for helping out).

Consider:

Not only was the local commentariat rocked by the two plagiarism cases in The Signal, but the news itself was strange too.

Baby Jesus disappeared from the mall. So did a deer at Hart Park. And a Bald Eagle, the national bird of the United States, was spotted (and photographed?) here in Santa Clarita. Local bird watchers presumed it was lost, but I prefer to believe its bird brain was Thinking SCV.

And then we had what looks like a hit on a businessman in the parking lot of a West Ridge building during a holiday party.

Maybe it was the rare “New Year’s Blue Moon” that was to blame?

The decade began with Y2K; at 2009′s end it became WTF
