  • Bruce McFarland has filed a complaint with Public Integrity Division of County DA over Mayor Dude, alleging that the 2009 campaign constituted a “misuse of public funds” and violated Fair Political Practices Commission code 18901, which regulates mass mailings. Mass mailings you say? Mayor Dude was a bus stop billboard and advertising campaign. Well, actually it turns out the FPPC can regulate taxpayer-funded advertisements as well, if they mention the name of the elected official (but was Frank Ferry’s name ever used in Mayor Dude?)   • Sheriff Homicide Detectives solve the 34 year old murder of 19 year old nursing student Marcia Lynn Christian, whose body was found partially buried in Castaic in July 1976. They solved it by matching DNA with a “mentally disordered sex offender” named Mark David Jackson, who died in Oregon in 1997. The announcement was made on the first day of Captain Paul Becker’s new command at the SCV Sheriff’s station SCV SHERIFFS
  • Speaking of Captain Paul Becker, the Signal interviewed him and outgoing Command Anthony Laberge, and they touched on unsolved murders and law enforcement in the SCV. There are some 4,000 unsolved murders in Los Angeles County, and Becker used to lead the Cold Case unit charged with solving them. SIGNAL‘

    OLPH expansion project approved on 5-0 vote. Arcadia street residents will soon have no way in or out and will essentially be imprisoned in their homes by the Roman Catholics. Kudos to the Planning Commission. They know that once our G&L owned city council approved the medical office buildings without a guarantee of a hospital expansion, that raised the bar for other developers in SCV. Now the G&L office building project is the new standard by which all other developments are approved. So if you don’t like the OLPH project, put the blame where it belongs with a dirty city council and a dirty city staff that allowed G&L to do anything they want. The residents in Valencia fought for their quality of life and property values and our city council told them to shove their complaints where the sun don’t shine. Now no one in SCV is safe from monstrous projects and Ken Pulskamp can walk away from this city when he retires carrying a magnificent portfolio that proves he can get a city council to approve monstrous projects even in the middle of residential areas. Cry all you want, but all projects go right back to G&L’s approval.

    And the Casden project is next. Once the at-grade crossing is approved in Newhall, that will turn the Casden project into a transit oriented project which means Paul Brotzman will have no trouble getting approval for the project because current California environmental laws can be ignored for transit oriented projects. Which means any opposition to Casden based on current laws protecting Newhall Creek will become invalid, and environmental laws preventing building in floodways will also become invalid. That is why the city pushed for that library right where it is, so Brotzman can get his at-grade crossing for Casden, which makes that project a transit oriented project. And guess who is on board with Casden Properties, that would be Hunt Braly, once again hard at work with Ken Pulskamp and Paul Brotzman, destroying another portion of this city with a high-density project sure to ruin an entire community. Placerita Canyon’s special standards district code won’t mean a thing for Placerita Canyon. All it takes is a vote of 3 Council members to approve a special standard code, and all it takes to get the code pulled is another majority vote. Since Frank Ferry and Laurie Ender are nothing more than Pulskamp-Brotzman puppets, it won’t take much to get Marsha to vote right along with them. If it even gets that far. Once the project attains transit oriented status, that special standaed code won’t be worth the paper it is written on.

    Re: Mayor Dude and Frank Ferry. Here is what the Daily News had to say about Mayor Dude/Frank Ferry. Pay particular attention to Mr. Ferry’s own comment. While some cities have mayors who are mild-mannered, paper-pushing bureaucrats, Santa Clarita has Frank Ferry, aka Mayor Dude, who rides a skateboard, is addicted to Twitter and jams on an electric guitar.Jerry Berrios in the Daily News. “In the United States, there are thousands of mayors.
