April Fools Day in the SCV

Gotta say Santa Clarita has really stepped up its game for April Fools Day.

I think first prize goes to COC:

KHTS meanwhile, went wild with articles on Michelle Obama’s visit to Santa Clarita, Ken Pulskamp’s winning of the lottery and his forthcoming tell-all memoir, the Hart District’s cancellation of all graduation ceremonies, the federal government’s purchase of Magic Mountain, and the closure of the Cross Valley Connector.

The Michelle Obama piece in particular is worth a read because while it is funny, it’s totally written for SCV insiders.

Meanwhile, TMS did not disappoint either. The paper published a wrap with a headline that said our City Council election on April 13 is for life. Another story said the City is building a wall to keep illegal immigrants out, and Jim Walker reviewed local massage parlors.

Also, the SCV Moms may be new to the scene, but their first April Fools prank is pretty good. Apparently they’ve become so powerful even Oprah wants a piece of them.

Excellent work SCV!

In the Michelle Obama visit they were obviously trying to hit every single major advertiser, so it got a bit inside baseball. The Ken Pulskamp one was the funniest, especially the drinking game!

Oh, Jose, I feel your pain. That was exactly my response. But how fun would April Fool’s be for smart-a$$es without us gullible, easily fooled space cadets. GO NAVY! (Don’t know where this would fit in, so here it is, totally off topic. (A dozen mea culpas, five Hail Mary’s, and I’ll find a photo of the Pope and kiss his ring). Navy Exchanges Fire, Captures Pirate Ship The USS Nicholas captured five pirates after exchanging fire with them, sinking their skiff & confiscating a mother ship near East Africa.

Although I like the idea of a wall to keep illegal immigrants out, it is a nice fantasy…but it would be too late anyway!

Thanks for the funny, Jeff!! I guess you and the missus are moving south to SFV to work in their most popular industry??? Well, here is something Not Funny and not a prank- Some of the uber volunteers for a local philanthropic organization were denied coverage/listing of their charity event without First Divulging who their Board of Directors was and If They Were Signal Subscribers??

I heard that there were some upset phone calls made by some City people to KHTS about the articles. No sense of humor over at City Hall these days. They must be worried about the people finding their voice at election time! After assuming that the ‘Elected for Life’ headline was true, the out-of-area special interest money is now just pouring into the mailers for the three incumbents, Larry, Moe… uh… wait… that would be Ferry, Weste, and McLean. Who exactly funds these mailers, which by my calculation must have run into $70,000 and more in costs by now? The campaign donations for these in-the-pocket incumbents certainly weren’t heavy with local donors, unlike Boydston’s and Gauny’s donors, who were notably local. If you are satisfied with a City Council bought and paid for by shadowy out of area interests, by all means stay silent and on the sidelines. UC Berkeley actually has a student run course about the zombie apocalypse. Needless to say, it is a very popular course. (source: decal.org)
