41 year old Saugus man dies after colliding with a car driven by a 19 year old man on Plum Canyon on Saturday. The 19 year old suffered major injuries and is in the hospital SIGNAL

What is happening with the parents who were going to pay for the 8th grade ceremony? Still happening or did it bite the dust when someone was asked to write a check?

jane: As far as I can tell nearly all of the facebook pages regarding the parent sponsored ceremonies have gone dark, including the Rio Norte one where their last communication stated they were opening it up to students from different middle schools. The new Real Life church has offered their worship space for free but it is not large enough to accomodate a full “promotion.” (It holds 1,100 but one needs about 4,000 to 5,000.) I think we are finding that about 80 to 90 percent of the students and their families are relieved that they don’t have to deal with it and are not jumping on board the de novo events.

Agreed, Prop 16 is a utility-funded trap. Don’t buy the BS, vote it down. Most Props are liek this– Trojan Horses funded by out of town or big business interests. You have to see who funds them to find out the real agenda. The only “grass-roots” Prop (pun intended) is the one to legalize weed. Vote for it.

Prop 16 is bad. For EVERYONE. 2/3 vote to get things approved? Whens the last time the voters of CA passed any measure at 66%? They should put their money where their mouth is and require that their own initiative be passed by 66% of the voters…. Seriously, since most of us are in Edison land, we don’t care…. but trust me when I say its bad for everyone… Signed, the guy who works for a public utility company.

“Four thousand people turned out for the for-profit Tribute Fest at Central Park.” It would be nice if the organizer of this event would have the courtesy of checking this city’s community calendar next time to avoid choosing the same weekend as the Taste of the Town event which is, after all, an actual charity event for The Child and Family Center. Even if two major events are on different weekend days, many people cannot afford two events in the same weekend, and in this economy, charity organizations are struggling. Just a suggestion, since we have the community calendar to avoid conflicts like this.
