  • Whitman elected Governor of California in landslide victory over her opponent. Oh wait. It was just a primary? You mean we have to do this all over again in the fall? DAMNIT. LA TIMES
  • Meanwhile Tony Strickland feels confident he won the primary for State Controller. George Runner appears to have won his race for Board of Equalization District 2. And Bob Hauter says Meg Whitman’s victory will be good for Santa Clarita if she is elected Governor SIGNAL, VOTE.CA.GOV
  • Also, it appears the Tea Party wasn’t all it was made out to be, in California at least LA TIMES ANALYSIS

  • City Council removes term limits for commissioners and board members, decides not to name bridge after fallen Deputy, and gets an earful from community members about Councilmember Ferry’s comments at the last Council meeting. KHTS, I HEART
  • Los Angeles County approved a smaller budget and initiated layoffs of 2,800 County workers Monday. The $23 billion budget was cut $175.2 million according to the SIGNAL
  • The Hart District may lay off 40 classified employees next year, depending on what the Board decides SIGNAL
  • The California Fair Political Practices Commission  wants to fine the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints $5,539 for its contributions in passing Proposition 8 SAC BEE
  • New Courthouse in Santa Clarita still on track despite budget troubles. It’s apparently very high priority for the County SFVBJ (Subscription)
  • The City of Santa Clarita and other agencies are holding a video contest for Transit riders. The idea is to create a 2 minute video “that explains how transit helps you and encourages others to try it.” The prize is a free EZ Transit Pass for one year, worth $1,000. SIGNAL
  • Bouquet Canyon Elementary school will close Friday after 21 years of service SIGNAL
  • Buck McKeon wants more defense spending, cites China as a threat  HERITAGE
  • Signal reader says racial profiling will happen in Arizona whether we like it or not and that the solution to the 11 million illegal immigrants in the USA is to “make them assimilate, become Americans, speak our language, respect our laws and our flag.” LTE

    How soon we forget. Jerry Brown came out to Santa Clarita…actually Newhall no less and did an interview with Leon Worden prior to his AG election.

    Now that California has an open primary I think I am going to switch my party affiliation to “Green” since they are least likely to engage in robocalls. But I think I will wait to see if a really militant pro-weed party emerges and join that one.

    Carly Fiorina.. God help us..She was ranked among the 20 worst CEO’s in US history. In her tenure at HP the stock dropped 60% while Dell went up 15%, this is who we choose for the party, OH MY

    Remember also that she engineered the merger with Compaq, basically doubling the size of HP’s computer hardware division to forestall being bested by a surging Dell, and within three years Dell passed the combined entity anyway.

    Somebody should be doing internet searches for old stories about Carly Fiorina. Is she the one who wiretapped members of her own Board of Directors?

    No. That was the Chairman of the Company that succeeded her. And it wasn’t wiretaps. The Board was trying to figure out which Board member was leaking things to the financial press and the Board’s law firm hired investigators who called ATT pretending to be the Board members and obtaining phone records (a felony under California law). Carla is an empty suit, but let’s not accuse her of things she did not do.

    I am sure they will think of a better name for the bridge instead of to name it for a hero,hmmmm, how about the Ferry Bridge? or the G & L Bridge?

    When the source is dry, the downstream suffers regardless of population patterns. Oops. Sorry. I have no desire to be more of a militaristic state than we already are. That is the biggest waste of our rare money which benefits very few.

    That always cracks me up how people that never served like Bush are considered good with anything military. Why was he a ‘war president’? because he got us into a war? It certainly wasn’t any military expertise. (yes my grammar is horrible, I know this)
