  • David Galvan pleads not guilty to impersonating police officer and is sent to Twin Towers Correctional facility in lieu of $50,000 bail. His coworkers are shocked at the allegations SIGNAL
  • Signal reporter Brandon Lowrey talked to several eyewitnesses and found out the pit bull dog that attacked the 4 year old boy on Saturday attacked adults as well. The dog only relented when several people started beating it with “skateboards, brooms and mops.” SIGNAL

  • Incredible World Cup 2010 pictures from BIG PICTURE. Who’s enjoying World Cup this year? I’ve watched several matches. I find the vuvuzela really annoying at this point.

    The money quote from the Galvan story was the co-worker who thought “he had been murdered” because he did not show up to a meeting. “Murdered.” “Jail for impersonating a police officer.” “Potatoe, PotAtoe.” Also, is it just me or does that bond seem draconic given that they seized no weapons and this is obviously not a violent crime. I wonder if his family does not have the means to pay the premium to bond him out? This seems particularly imbalanced when compared with Johnny Pride getting bounced out of custody completely after a rape allegation.

    Murdered. Impersonating a police officer. Same thing, right? Haha My friend went to jail recently for not showing up to court. His bond was $30,000. I thought it was kinda high for a non-violent arrest.

    A fine piece of reporting by Jim Holt. He mentions a reverse osmosis plant and indicates it will cost $210,000. Think he left a few zeros out? Also, are the wells shut down for perchlorate now operating and being used as supply wells (rather than just to test and commission the treatment plant)?

    If I recall correctly, I either read or heard that two of the wells were either scheduled or are in the processing of being scheduled to be back on line again…

    Thats kind of what I thought – that they weren’t quite in production yet.

    Yes, the estimated costs at this time is $210,000,000. And that is supposed to be a bargain…because it was going to be 400 million. Feeling fortunate? How about the fact that a whole mess of that money is not going to be spent here on our sewer plants, but downstream in the Piru basin for wells and pipes etc, and to buy water from Kern county, so that the Strawberry farmers can have clean water in Oxnard, because they overpumped their aquifer and there is salt water intrusion from the ocean, and that level of salt actually will kill the Strawberries. This info from the Sanitation District last year. This tax violates prop 13 and 218. A proper election needs to be held.
