Deadly afternoon in the SCV?

Just heard part of a story on KABC, Channel 7, that the bodies of 3 people were found in a car in Bridgeport this afternoon.  So far, no story up on the ABC website, the Signal or KHTS.

Also, the Signal is reporting a man’s body was found beside a pool at the Santa Fe complex in Valencia this afternoon.

UPDATE:  The Signal is now reporting the Bridgeport incident as a murder-suicide.

    Death and despair thrive behind that ridiculous lighthouse and faux lake? MUST be the Newhall gangbangers and illegals, right? Terrible incident, no matter the spin.

    Perhaps the murder-suicide reporting is a bit premature. Not to say that I have any evidence to the contrary, but nobody other than the signal is reporting that angle. And I have to say, the quality of the story (as posted this moment) is spotty at best, especially for Jim Holt. LA Times is reporting that the deceased are two in their 90s and one in their 50s.

    It certainly does look like it… but boy the Signal, perhaps in an effort to establish some credibility, really hit the ground running on that angle early. Whatever did happen, its all tragic.

    I think the measure of whether a report was premature is settled easily when the truth comes out.

    This seems to be a very bizarre situation. Am I reading this right? The husband drives his mother in law and father in law to the driveway and kills them all while his wife is inside? I’m sure the facts will come out but it’s feeling a bit eerie to me on a few levels. First it essentially happened down the street from my home in Northbridge. I’m in my 50′s – the alleged killer is as well. My father at 93 just passed in June after years in an assisted living facility. My father in law in his mid 80′s passed away in April after several years in an assisted living facility. There has been the expected amount of stress for my wife and myself dealing with our aging parents followed by their loss. I miss them both deeply but know this is the way of life and we must go on. It seems some of the same dynamics of dealing with aging parents may have been at play in this episode? Total speculation. I hope I’m wrong.

    That was my thought as well. Also, as many of these cases recently seem to be, I’m willing to bet that economics had something to do with this. But, if your speculation proves correct… son picks up mom and dad, brings them home then kills them then himself, wow.

    should say son-in-law picks up mom and dad. Was he paying for their elder care? Did that drive him to the brink? Was paying for them about to make him lose his home, and in taking his own life he sets up his wife to continue (many life insurance policies will pay out on Suicide, believe it or not).

    I would pray economics weren’t the motivation for this, and anything from people outside of the family circle is pure speculation. With that being said, they wrote that he was suffering from depression. Couple that with the fact that dentists are taking a major hit during this economic downturn and I am sure he like most I know, aren’t too happy right now.

    Yes, my conjecture is pure speculation… One can only imagine why else someone would go pick up their in-laws kill them, then kill themselves. Nobody ever said it ever had to make sense I guess.

    Todd: The suicide exclusion generally only applies for the first two years a life insurance policy is in force. Once that exclusion period expires the death benefit will be paid under any circumstances. PS: You thoughts were exactly my thoughts. An earlier report also stated that two adult sons lived at the residence. Looks like the home on Bayview Court may have in fact been the nexus of economic stress.

    The Beacon reported this incident when it happened. Zero coverage from The Signal. Interesting how/why this was kept so quiet.

    Petz: I’ve never addressed you, but I’ve read many of your comments. This one is just ridiculous. If I ever went to sell or buy a home, your name would be the last on the list to get my business. Get a heart! Oh and just for the record. I have no debt, not on welfare and probably have a higher credit score than you and most people.

    Petz didn’t just pull that one out of thin air — it is one of those things that is regarded as “common knowledge” although perhaps not completely accurate.
