- City Council puts in a desultory less than 90 minute meeting which IHEARTSCVstruggles heroically to make interesting. With November upon us and NO announced candidates for the 2012 City Council election other than the incumbents it certainly looks like Laurie Ender and Bob Kellar are on some extended slow glide path to reelection. Anyone running? Anyone?
- Two out of town and rather long in the tooth (38 and 60 year old) women are arrested for prostitution. Signal provides usual sketchy details.
- Though it won't move the vote meter one whit, four candidatesfor two contested seats on the COC board slug it out in a candidates' forum. Beyond the usual platitudes about the importance of education we also learn that:Attending black tie dinners (incumbent Bruce Fortine) is really bad when compared to hanging around campus, which challenger Diana Shaw promises to do;
Patrick Hill somehow believes that leaving an elected office when one is elected to a higher office is somehow an act of treason (Watch out Cameron Smyth!!!)
Two other additional tidbits. The Signal publishes in its print version a picture of the candidates, including Diana Shaw. I should be embarrassed to say that I failed to recognize this sometimes Democratic candidate (I would not know her if I tripped over her!), but does that relate more to her half-ass campaigns than to my negligence?
And finally, will Patrick Hill, the mysterious candidate that just arrived from afar, actually get more than 500 votes? - I am shocked, shocked!!! Supes approve second phase of Newhall Ranch by a vote of 4-0.
- Even though one can firmly put me in the camp of USC Trojan haters I will freely admit I have a man crush on former USC running back and motormouth sportscaster Petros Papadakis, who showed up at West Ranch High School during Homecoming Week for his patented "dip" challenge.
