Eric Yee, the 21 year old former Yale student arrested for making "terrorist threats" against school children was just making social and political commentary and referencing Brett Easton Ellis' book, American Psycho, according to his lawyer. The District Attorney seems to agree: Yee isn't being charged for making threats, but he is being charged for possession of an unregistered firearm and his bail has been reduced from $1 million to $100,000. The lawyer for Yee says the firearm belonged to Yee's father (who is now also facing charges) and that there were only two boxes of ammunition in the house. As for the other gun reported? It was a pellet gun. Yee's lawyer accused the Sheriff's Department of hyping the case. "Law enforcement is scaring the hell out of everybody," he said. DAILY NEWS, SIGNAL

William Babb, a local registered sex offender whose release from prison in 2010 caused much controversy in the SCV, is under arrest again after trying to get in contact with a young man he tried to victimize years ago. In June, Babb was arrested after a parole check found pornography on his computer, so that makes two times he's violated parole. SIGNAL
About 100 people filled SUSD's board room last night to argue for and against Einstein Academy's elementary charter petition. AEA started things off with a 20 minute presentation by AEA before those for and against the petition argued their points. AEA said it won't give up and if it's denied again it will go to the County and state. Perry Smith reports that each time a charter petition is made, the District has to spend $40k-$50k to review.
