- COC Talks Details: College of the Canyons released info on its settlement in the California Voting Rights Act case brought against it. In addition to moving board elections to cumulative voting in November of even-numbered years, and implementing district-based elections if a majority Latino district can be drawn, the college will pay the plaintiffs' $850,000 in legal fees. We can make plenty of snarky comments about how much we won't miss Elephant Bar (we won't), but at the end of the day, hard-working servers, some of whom are single parents, lost their jobs. - Golden News: In the days prior to actual games, Santa Clarita is serving as a host town for athletes in the 2015 Special Olympics World Games, coming to LA late July through early August next year. More than 7,000 athletes from 200 countries will gather in L.A., and host cities will, for three days before the start of the games, give them a place to stay and acclimate to the time change, as well as organize some fun outings.
