Check out the differences in Congressman McKeon’s campaign contributions from 2007-2008 and 2009-2010 when he became Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee:

2008 Top Contributors by Industries

As you can see Defense/Aerospace was but one of a number of contributors. Back then, he was ranking member of the House Education & Labor Committee and was a specialist in the student loan industry (hence the education/finance/commercial bank companies)

In 2009/10, as he took the Ranking position on the Armed Services Committee, the donor industry picture changes:

Now if you add up Defense Aerospace, Misc. Defense, and Defense Electronics, it's far more than the other industries

Among the heavyweight defense companies in the 2010 cycle are Lockheed Martin, SAIC, Northrop Grumman, basically the who’s who of American military & lobbying might.

I posted this not to criticize but just to get a baseline of McKeon’s contributions as they stand today. Come the fall, I wonder if this will look radically different as the effects of the Supreme Court ruling become evident?

if you saw the way McKeon carried water for private “career colleges” that teach vocational skills at USC-like prices and the subsidized private student loan companies, he’s clearly for sale.

Is there one reputable poll out there that shows the public agrees with the president/left on the SCOTUS decision? I have been looking and can’t find one? What is your feelings regarding unions using taxpayer money to support a candidiate? (a majority of union members in the US now work for the government)

Speaking of campaign finance. Did you get an invite to Buck’s Carly Fiorina for U.S. Senate campaign event? Sure you did. You should’ve received your slick mailer in early Jan. It came in ‘A Year End Congressional Report from Congressaman Buck McKeon’, sent to all his constituents. Look for the campaign event invite just left of your household name and address. McKeon to Host First Women’s Conference with special guest speaker Sat, Feb. 13, 8:30 am – 12:00 pm, COC Cafeteria. On the upper left, above the invite is Buck’s DC return address and this important note, all caps: THIS MAILING WAS PREPARED, PUBLISHED AND MAILED AT TAXPAYER’S EXPENSE. THIS MAILING IS PROVIDED AS A SERVICE TO MY CONSTITUENTS. I’ve been in a tither trying to guess who would be Buck’s special guest speaker. A very intelligent woman, I’m sure. Michele Bachman? Sarah Palin? On Jan 25 The Signal http://www.the-http://www.the-signal.com/news/article/23730/ ended the suspense. The keynote speaker is Carly Fiorina, candidate for U.S. Senate. So, Buck’s gonna use his/our Congressional budget to fund a campaign event under the guise of a women’s conference. Very clever. If he was on the up and up he’d pick a non candidate like Maria Schriver, for instance. If he really wanted to do right by his constituents he’d choose an influential woman from his District like Diane Van Hook for his keynote speaker. But not our beloved Buck. He’s going to wrap himself in the shawl of feminism and hide behind the veil of women’s rights while using 25th CD funds to aid the self funded campaign of the wealthy Republican woman attempting to unseat Barbara Boxer. I should’ve seen the signs when Buck took the big bucks from the student loan industry and sunk the ship of sweet deals to fund our kids college educations. Still, I never thought Buck would sink so low. Silly me. Don’t forget to RSVP. http://www.mckeon.house.gov
