    Get out of town, Scott. Too many people now know the Wilk name means scum. This latest upchuck of yours just validates a lot of people’s opinion of you that you need to move on. Think you will get any kudos for today’s piece of trash? How soon you forget that even the “inner circle” Republicans in this town backed David Gauny, and we will continue to do so right into the next election. Obviously, this fact is still bugging the hell out of you. You know, I am beginning to think you really might not know that everything you write just makes you look like a bigger and bigger fool.

    I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, nobody leads the tea party movement. The movement is a set of principles and a state of mind. Anyone trying to make their name or further their own cause by invoking their relationship with the tea party is a danger to the movement.

    Principles like $300 toilet seats for the military and no health care for its citizens! But its champions like Michelle Bachman have no problem taking $25,000 Government farm subsidies per year for land which isn’t actually a farm. Let me know when you find those principles your talking about.

    Scott Wilk if full of it. He’s basically a paid political hack and as a result, anything that comes out of his mouth is based on the $$’s he’s received on any particular issue. The bottom line is there were plenty of better places to site medical office buildings (they don’t need to be right next to an existing hospital). Look at the many Facey buildings and other MOB’s in the SCV that are not located near the hospital. They do well in spite of their lack of proximity. If there was a dirty campaign, it was run by the Signal and the incumbents with their taking credit for normal city operations.

    How did this point escape me? Wilk’s right. The Summit homeowners were in it for the view. Opposing the expansion of our lone hospital in order to preserve a view? Awesome! NIMBYism plus racial resentment. The most disgusting candidacy in SCV history. Props to Wilk.

    It is obvious you did not follow the debate over the Medical office building expansion. Nor have you paid attention to the cost of illegal immigrants, not to mention they broke our laws by sneaking into this country.

    David Gauny opposed the “hospital expansion” because it is not a “hospital expansion” at all. I oppose it for the same reason and I do not live anywhere near Henry Mayo or have an issue with the view. The residents of Canyon Country have to travel too far for medical services. Yes, I know we just approved a brand spanking new medical facility and I was a supporter of same, but it will not be a full-fledged hospital. When this valley was smaller and less populated, Canyon Country had more medical services per capita than it does now. To concentrate doctor’s offices, a hospital, etc all on the west side of town is simply stupid. Moreover, to do so in order for a for profit business to make money on land which was DONATED to the community for a “hospital” is at the very least unethical. Scott Wilk has no credibility in my opinion. This city is large enough to support more than one hospital. More effort could have been dedicated to finding an appropriate site for another hospital in the east end of this valley and bringing in those new jobs too. To continue to place more and more structures on a small parcel of land in Valencia surrounded by private residences is very poor planning and does not serve all the residents of this valley.

    A second hospital won’t happen by default. Until and unless someone decides to make it happen, the hospital expansion, the mixed bag that it is (I’ll concede that) looks better and better every day. Building a new hospital would take years and years and we don’t even see green shoots in the ground. There’s not even a seed.

    Hey Cash they certainly do! I love those old guys. I can take them a broken or missing something / anything and they find me the correct replacement doohickey. Were you there on Mother’s Day when I told my daughter that very thing while we waited for our booth at Margarita’s? By the way, Margarita’s had a great brunch!

    I was in the store when you told your daughter. You’re correct about the Do It Center and I like the 5% discount they give us old dudes. Damn, I missed the Margarita’s. I saw the large crowd but did not know what was up.

    I did not know about a discount at Do It Center. What is the age to qualify for the discount? The Sunday brunch at Margarita’s was very nice with plenty of items to choose from at the buffet tables and waffles, omelets, etc made to your order too. Everything I sampled was very good and the staff very friendly and helpful. I understand they have a great brunch every Sunday. For Mother’s Day, they included complimentary champagne and orange juice. I do not drink much since it gives me a headache but I made a Mimosa and enjoyed it. They also gave all of the moms a nice pink carnation. The nicest part was having my daughter take me out and just spending time together. Have a great weekend all.

    Wasn’t Scott Wilk a paid lobbyist for the developer of the medical office building expansion at the community hospital site? And wasn’t he the paid campaign manager for one of the incumbents in the recent election campaign, and essentially the campaign manager of the ‘slate’ campaign of all three incumbents? Facts missing from the Signal by the way. The press is really the only tool we have to keep government in check and accountable. When the press won’t do it’s job, we all suffer.

    We desperately need a hospital on the East Side of town, can you imagine the impact and improvement for trauma, heart attack, and stroke patients to receive emergency care 20 minutes sooner?

    Notwithstanding Wilk’s ties to lobbying or the hospital, he makes a very good point. The challengers were excessively negative in this campaign. So much so it turned me off to almost all of them. It’s not an exaggeration to say they were making the city and Santa Clarita sound pretty terrible. In addition, the challengers had no positive message of change to counter the incumbent’s list of accomplished tasks, like the CVC and other projects. All they could say was that the city is corrupt, in bed with developers, and committed to remaking the SCV into San Fernando Valley. They attacked staff too, which sucks because the staff is not allowed to respond. And then toward the end they started attacking high density, which offends me on a personal level since I live in a high density project right now. They ran a campaign to please the likes of NotaFerryFan.

    Getting approval to build a new hospital in Valencia takes exactly the same amount of time as it does to gain approval in Canyon Country. Medical services that can be performed in places outside of an official “Hospital” do not have to be performed within earshot of a “Hospital or Trauma Center” itself. When you give a developer the ability to exceed density requirements, you inadvertently reduce their cost and give them an unfair economic advantage over a developer that is playing by the rules. That in itself discourages a second hospital to be built until such time as the effect of the unfair advantage is overcome. Unless of course, you do not care what you are doing to existing neighborhoods and intend to let every developer violate the rules. Another similar situation is coming into focus and that is the Medical Office building proposed at Singing Hills and McBeam. While expanding Henry Mayo Hospital is good for the public, adding the majority of the office buildings on the Henry Mayo site is not going to improve medical services in Santa Clarita. When residents of the Summit bought their homes they were told that they were purchasing in a planned community. They have every right to expect that local government would protect them from developer’s intent on making a profit at their expense. That scenario is becoming all too common in Santa Clarita. It is up to our council members to hold the line on policies that protect existing homeowners.

Who was going to fund/build this “Canyon Country Hospital?” You? It looks like you already spent all your money on that fancy “dress-up” leather jacket.

    I too nearly tossed my cookies when I simply read the title! Scott’s name in the same hemisphere as the word “honest?” LMAO! However, in the old days when that rag actually had some decent journalists at the helm, Tim Whyte would have certainly added an editor’s note informing readers that Scott Wilk was a lobbyist for G&L Realty and was the campaign manager for the incumbents. And not a very good one, if he can’t do better than that for Frank, but then, Bob Kellar doesn’t think much of Wilk’s manager “talents” either. Jeff and Mike too often appear to be tools for the city and they need to take their heads out of those holes in the sand. Damageinc needs a better disguise. But it’s obvious that most can see the truth about Scott Wilk, and anyone with half a brain knows the truth about the medical office building project that G&L attempted to disguise as a hospital expansion. Scott Wilk does anything for a buck and Scott is definitely scum, as many, including many local Republicans, have named him correctly. This city would be better off without Scott Wilk and his ilk. Enough said.

    The hospital was facing bancruptcy. G&L bought half of that property from the hospital to ‘save’ them. The hospital is deeply indebted to G&L. G&L is going to make a ton off that purchase when they sell it…to whom?

Because YOU live in high-density housing, an entire city is supposed to accept high-density housing based on your own living arrangements. Once again, LMAO. The challengers ran honest campaigns that resounded mightily with a lot of fed-up people, people fed up with not counting with our developer/lobbyist-owned city staff and our developer/lobbyist-owned City Council. Proof is in the amazing number of votes the challengers got for first-timers going up against well entrenched, developer supported incumbents. History was made in this last election and it was made because a hell of a lot of people got their heads up out of the sand. G&L bought that election, and now we have G&L sitting in 4 Council seats. Yeah, really something for incumbents and Scott Wilk to be proud of, but considering the lack of ethics on all their parts, it’s a safe bet that they don’t feel a twinge.

Schwarzenegger Seeks New Round of Cuts to Close Budget Deficit May 14 (Bloomberg) — California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger proposed a new round of budget cuts, including eliminating the state’s main welfare program for families, to close a $19.1 billion budget deficit for the year starting July 1. The $83.4 billion plan calls for $12.4 billion in spending reductions, $3.4 billion in additional federal aid and $3.4 billion in fund shifts, fees and assessments, according to the governor’s budget. This year’s budget was $86.4 billion. The Republican’s revisions come four months after his first draft of a 2011 spending plan stalled in the Democrat-led Legislature. Schwarzenegger has vowed not to raise taxes, forcing him to rely on deeper cuts. The proposals include dismantling the state’s main welfare program for families, known as CalWorks, as well as reducing subsidies for county-level mental health programs and in-home care for the elderly and the disabled. The plan also calls for an almost 10 percent wage cut for all state workers, elimination of all but preschool child care subsidies, and a 4.8 percent surcharge on home and commercial insurance policies to finance firefighting.

Didn’t Frank Ferry tell us at city council that he considers city staff “above reproach?” Yes, Frank certainly did scream that at us, and 3 other councilmembers feel exactly the same way as Frank. So how lucky can staff be, having bosses that think their employees should be cannonized for sainthood. Don’t believe I was ever that lucky to have bosses that considered me “above reproach,” but if I did, I wouldn’t worry about defending myself to tax-paying property owners who value their neighborhoods and are questioning a serious lack of transparency from their local government. Second, staff lies. It is not an attack to state the truth. As a member of a community coalition, I am one of many homeowners that have seen firsthand at OVOV meetings and the community meetings set up by Bob Kellar that staff is not always truthful with the information they give Santa Claritans. There were so many misrepresentations involved in the OVOV documents it was criminal what they tried to pull. OVOV is a document that can very possibly negatively impact our property values when that document becomes The Law According to Ken Pulskamp. When homeowners uncovered false information and misrepresentations regarding this documnent, our righteous outrage was above reproach. But I don’t think I remember seeing you at any of the OVOV meetings, Jeff, where I personally witnessed city staff’s lack of truthfulness. As for Scott Wilk, he is a lobbyist. Lobbyists don’t care about anyone or anything but the almighty dollar. Expecting more than that from any lobbyist is a lesson in futility. Especially when the scumbag, er, lobbyist, is Scott Wilk.

    Get home from work and miss all of the fun about Wilk, Gauny and the Hospital. A point that needs more common sense is the desire by many responders to have a hospital in Canyon Country. While that would be great, it doesn’t happen just because you want it. Somebody neds to buy enough land and build it. No other hospital, including Providence, has proposed a Canyon Country Hospital. In fact, the property Providence claimed to have in escrow was off of the 126 In VAlencia! The fact is that Henry Mayo is the only game in town for the forseable future. Time will tell if the proposed mix of Hospital and Medical Office works. If it does, what will Ferdman, Gauny and Boydston say then? Finally, I agree that the challengers ran negative campaigns. That is what you do when you want to defeat an incumbent. You have to give people a reason. And Gauny almost rode the anti incumbent wave in this Country to victory. However, for those who want change for change’s sake, remember that is what President Obama sold us. Are you happy with that?

    Love Santa Clarita: “”IF” it works what will ….” What “IF” it does not work and the residents of Santa Clarita are stuck with more gridlock and no more hospital beds? This is a bought and paid for by a Beverly Hills developer (G&L) gamble IMHO. Finally, I did not see any negative campaigning and I was on the TBB campaign committee. Just one example was the sign size regulations that were misquoted in the handbook. That only enhanced the incumbents and you know that!

    Anette, funny you mention it. The Boydston campaign’s mistaken belief that signs matter and the resulting misprioritization is probably its greatest strategic blunder.

    Actually I think signs did matter and I would argue that Boydston didn’t think they were important as his campaign signs and overall branding were HORRIBLE! If there was one thing that Gauny did right was his branding and sign which looked pretty good, he ended up associating his brand value with the most extreme people in the right wing which was probably what cost him the 33 votes he needed to unseat Ferry. Lesson you have 20-30k or whatever they had, get a graphic designer.

    The science says otherwise. Mail is more effective, many times over. In fact, it seems that among the five serious contenders, there was an inverse relationship between number of signs and number of votes.

    Probably right about the signs. The look of Gauny’s stuff was more fluid then Boydston. For some people their mailers / signs was all people had to go on. Very important to look sharp. I still laugh at the 40 foot long sign Boydston had.

    Bottom line – we do need new blood on City Council. G&L now owns 4 seats, only people who would accept that woulld be city staff, City Council, G&L lobbyists, and Henry Mayo shills for G&L. Everyone now knows that the medical office building project will not be giving this city a hospital expansion. Anyone who refuses to acknowledge that fact is obviously part of the afore-mentioned entities. Term limits are good enough for even the President of the United States. We need term limits, too, to get rid of councilmembers who only work for developers. It’s lame to say new councilmembers MAY NOT be any better. How do you know unless we try. No reason NOT to try and get some new blood, at the very worst, getting rid of the garbage we have now won’t hurt us one little bit. And obviously, by the results of the last election, the people of this city want change. If not for G&L, that change would have very likely occurred. Like I said, if it doesn’t bother you that G&L contributed so much money to keep their puppets on OUR City Council, then you must be part of the entities mentioned above. I find it interesting that you only accuse challengers of running megative campaigns when Frank Ferry’s tbreats to David Gauny are not mentioned. And I suppose you have no problem with Ferry’s illegal campaign donation to Laurie Ender when she ran on G&L money? And you see nothing wrong with Laurene Weste’s Newhall Redevelopment scheming to insure she benefits as much as she can, financially? Interesting how you ignore really serious negatives from councilmembers. The challengers continued to run honest, clean campaigns and they pointed out the truth about our developer-owned City Councilm and they pointed out the truth about the lack of honesty from city staff. If you think that is negative, then by that very admission it time for change.

    That’s funny! Frank barely squeaked by with a small handful of votes, he is a laughing stock. It’s as obvious as the nose on your face that Frank is hated. Reality bites, and some of you just can’t take the truth that David Gauny almost got Frank’s city council seat the first time David ran. Honestly, why would a G&L Realty owned city council be acceptable to anyone who actually loves this city. Answer, it wouldn’t.

Word out is that Frank is sitting in a seat he actually lost and that’s what a whole lot of people were saying at Taste of the Town. They were also saying David Gauny is a shoe-in for the next election, and judging from all the people crowding around David everywhere he went at that event, looks like he will have a ton of support. And poor Damageinc just can’t stand that. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! lOVE IT!

What I find funny about you, Damage inc, is your intense annoyance about Frank coming so close to losing his seat to a newcomer. You seem to be feeling a large amount of Frank’s embarrassment in a very personal way and your anger is barely under control. And don’t forget, Frank’s own Republican party wouldn’t even support him, instead giving their support to David Gauny. Frank is simply not wanted by this city, and the fact that he almost lost his seat seems to be more than you can take at a very personal level. This was unheard of, a multi-term council member like Frank coming so close to being booted out even with all that money. I don’t know who you are, Damage inc, but you take this way too personally and you are in total, absolute denial about how much people dislike Frank Ferry, even his own Republican party. You are unhappy and bitter, and that can only be because you know everyone here is right and you don’t want to hear it. Get over it, get over yourself. You almost make me think you are Frank Ferry himself, you are so so angry. Chill, you’ll live longer. Have a nice weekend.

    Oh see it is actually gloating… just knowing Bill Reynolds and Company cried themselves to sleep that night is just a yummy thought. You cling to the “almost” line of thinking. As a wise man once told me. If you are jumping from one building to another and miss the other build by an inch… you still fall and die. Or perhaps you might like a movie quote. Vin Diesel’s character said it doesn’t matter if you win by and inch or a mile WINNING IS WINNING. Only losers whine about “almosts” and “doing their best”. Winners win, which makes Ferry a winner because he won 4 times.
