Dear Santa Clarita, Annex Away. Love, Me.

Dear City of Santa Clarita,

Thank you for your letter!  I’ve been eagerly anticipating the moment when you ask for my hand in annexation.

You can have my response now – YES! A THOUSAND TIMES, YES! (And if that doesn’t come through, I’ll make sure to send the postage-paid formal reply).

Since I can’t think of a worse situation than being represented along with two million others by a Supervisor in LA (I know! Talk about Big Love, right?!), I promise not to criticize the manner in which you do it either.

I know it’s not much — especially compared to that high maintenance unrequited love you’ve been chasing west of the 5 — but you can have the shopping center (ignore the boarded up former Starbucks space – we’ll fix that soon) and anything else that may or may not transpire on this dirt.  Accept it all as a dowry.

I can’t wait for our big day when you finally take me as your own.

Love always,

Tesoro, West Hills, West Creek*

*and Pitchess, whose inmate population helps with revenues and is really only a problem once in a while but you already know about that KTHXBAI

p.s. You didn’t need to attach the color brochure, but it was a very nice touch!

They had John at play. Nice to see the City is being more aggressive about annexation.

How do I get one of those?

You complete me, City of Santa Clarita.

Will Awesometown citizens get to vote?
  5. spineflower2May 28, 2010 at 7:19 am
Acountable local government? Really, that’s a knee-slapper! Just how responsive is this bought-off City Council? ACCOUNTable, as in they check their GL-enriched bank ACCOUNT before voting.

Your self-imposed boycott of Town Councils makes your claim to not be able to influence local government moot.

Does Tesoro area have a town council?

JB: Can’t wait until the West Creek, West Hills and Tesoro areas get annexed so they can join the Northbridge, Northbridge Pointe and Northpark political powerhouses to COMPLETELY marginalize every other part of town in our at large council system.

Ha! Don’t worry Tim, the South shall rise again. (Probably not.)

ND: You and your family (including Mavis) would be welcome additions to our City of Santa Clarita. To you others: As to West vs. East etc. do not count us Canyon Country folks out. I believe we comprise 60% of the city’s population, are geographically the largest community within the City, and are a force to be reckoned with when we set our mind to something. A special thank you to those of you who have served or are serving in our Armed Forces. We owe you a debt we can never repay. Have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend all!

Once the housing prices stop plummeting and stabilize (which could be a long time) then they will start to build again and they will be much smaller, cheaper homes and your Valencia 2.0 might not be as young, educated, affluent and multi-cultural as you think. Might be some plain old working folks with families.

I still say you should be a realtor. ;_P
