Protest Idea

Sometimes it’s not enough to just write letters to the editor or petition your government over unjust policies.  Sometimes you have to take bold, decisive action.

Sadly, we have reached that point in Santa Clarita.

I’m calling it SCV: now is the time for all good men and women to take to the streets of Santa Clarita and protest the chloride water rate hike. I propose we close off Valencia Blvd & McBean Parkway for several hours in early July and bring bushels of fresh Ventura County produce (particularly strawberries and avocados) to consume & smash on the streets of Santa Clarita in protest of the water rate hike.

This would present a compelling (not to mention delicious) narrative for regional media and would quite likely bring attention to our cause.

If done right and with the proper accouterments (chocolate for the strawberries, chips for the avocados for instance), it could be a poignant homage to the founding of this nation, our very own Santa Clarita Fruit Party if you will.

And as the avocado rinds and the tops of the strawberries are discarded, we could pour salt on them, just to really stick it to them.

Pitchforks and torches are optional, but obviously encouraged.

    I agree. As you said in a previous post, it is good to see an issue that we can all agree needs to be opposed. All except Cam N. and Lynn P. that is.

    Yeah. It’s a good idea and all until the cops bust out those non lethal weapons that make you evacuate your bowels when you get hit by them. It would be a terrible mess.

    Funny throught, but realistically it would be better for the community to collect money to spend on a competent lawyer to sue the Sanitation District under Articles 13C and 13D of the California Constituion aka Propositions 13 and 218. That’s the problem which bugs people, regardless of whether they are Republican or Democrat. Total disregard for the Constitutions, both of them. California and Federal.

    I think it’s a great idea, and as has been stated previously it seems to be the one issue that is mostly unifying, why even those who have been bucking for a fight seem to be confused when their yelling about this issue is meet with mostly nods of agreement. Nothing confuses a jack of all trades (Master of none) activist like a good swift nod of agreement and lack of an argument in response.

    Can you imagine the national exposure, along with Youtube of a torches and pitchforks rally in 2010? Let’s do it!
