His plea today that Congress delay acting on the Pentagon’s Don’t ask, don’t tell report (the same report he demanded earlier this year) is particularly desperate and pathetic when you read what the report actually says. Here’s a quote from a special forces guy on gays in the military:

“We have a gay guy in the unit. He’s big, he’s mean, and he kills lots of bad guys. No one cared that he was gay.”

With sentiments like that, coupled with what the report actually found (strong support for a repeal), what can McKeon, who never even served, possibly argue next?

    There has never been clearer evidence that Buck is a religious nut unfit to serve this country. Punk Mckeon needs to take the hate filled bull crap back to Utah.

    Easy man, don’t combat hate with more hate. Being hateful towards others (Utah, homosexuals or those of other races) is not right, no matter the justification used.

    I don’t know Bill, what if he was *gasp* Mexican?!? Seriously quit trying to arbitrarily skew the conversation away from the issue. We have, and have had, homosexual people who have served honorably and defended our freedom in the military while at the same time not being free themselves to be honest about who they are, just sad. Time to repair that glitch of a policy.

    Seriously… I’m just giving my opinion – so sorry that you are offended by my own personal opinion. It just happens that a gay soldier just gave up a load of security documents to Wiki Leaks and now we’re supposed to trust a gay in our foxhole in combat!?

    Yeah cause being gay is obviously the cause of this “betrayal.” so here’s the formula in case you haven’t been paying attention: Gay does something bad – he/she did it because of their gayness. Gay does something good – doesn’t count cause, ya know, THEIR GAY!

    White people shouldn’t be allowed to serve in the military. From our nations founding, the greatest betrayals by men in uniform have been by whites. I would not want to be in a foxhole with a white person.

    He’s Mormon. His religion won’t allow him to give any ground when it comes to gay issues. Kind of ironic how the Mormons have self-appointed themselves as the moral compass of the country. It’s a slippery slope ‘ya know. Today gays serving openly in the military, tomorrow polygamy.

    Oh, and let’s just overlook the fact that the poster boy for DADT PFC Bradley Manning just betrayed our country to Wikileaks. Bad timing.

    I guess the part about our country betraying us is lost in all this. How many lies have we been told? How many false justifications for wars? I would say there is a fine line between traitor and patriot. War crimes are alright though.

    Just remember there were protestors with a similar complaint to yours prior to WW1 and WW2. So I ask you, what is a justified war?

    Just my opinion, and 70% of those surveyed, that this is a non-issue to us serving now. And when politicians discuss readiness being affected, um, when do they deploy again? Not that I know anything about deployments lol. And as for the criminal who released classified information, his sexual orientation had nothing to do with it. 99.99% of all espionage cases are fueled by a desire of financial gain and in rare cases, fame. Proven fact. Either vote yes to repeal the law or take it out of the appropriations bill because I have some supplies I need ordered!

    It is clear to me. The actual warriors don’t care because they are brave. The politicians are afraid and it is a good thing that Buck did not serve because it looks like he would run at the first sign of trouble.

    In other words, if someone is frightened by the prospect of two men having sexual relations, when actual shooting starts they will probably soil themselves.

    What’s hilarious is after studies and debate for a while now he still wants to delay on repeal because he feels we shouldn’t ‘rush into this’. Yet the repubs have no qualms about extending Bush era tax cuts NOWOMG before anything else is considered. Don’t they need time to ‘study’ the effects of doing this?
