No Daily Brief – February 23, 2011

But be sure to check out I Heart’s summation of the City Council meeting, a  story about the retirement of Mike Penberthy’s (Lakers player) jersey at Master’s College, and will cleaning up chloride from the SCV’s water cost as much as we thought?

A good measure of how disconnected the survey is from reality is the misspelling of Agua Dulce (“Aqua Dulce”), and the omission of the Castaic library altogether! Great way to minimize the appren usefulness of the COLA system in order to game the results of the survey. Nothing but a sham!

We are lucky enough to live in the service area of, not one, but two of the five largest library systems in the country. Yet the leaders of our little bedroom community are going into competition with them both and expect this will be an improvement. If you don’t find that wildly amusing your ego has trumped your sense of humor.

Just checked weather.com – forecast for Valencia for Saturday – 70% chance of rain – 30 degree low. Will Saturday be our second snow event of 2011?
  4. KLBFebruary 23, 2011 at 11:09 am
I sure hope so. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for snow.
  5. NateFebruary 23, 2011 at 11:20 am
Not looking good for food trucks.
  6. ToddFebruary 23, 2011 at 10:41 pm
KCAL News just said the snow level will get down to 1000 feet. Being that my house sits at right about 1600′ and the last time I got 3/4″…. I’m thinking it might be a good time to get some rock salt… Or would that make the water issue worse?
  7. Mr PerezFebruary 23, 2011 at 11:38 am
Hey Nate, dont know how long you have lived in Cali but do you remember walking home from school in sub-zero temps and playing hockey all day in the same temps on the weekends???
  8. NateFebruary 23, 2011 at 1:49 pm
Never had that. Military brought us to Cali.
  9. Mr PerezFebruary 23, 2011 at 2:25 pm
Wow, kind of like my newborn son is dealing with then. Ya, the winter before I moved here in 09 the wind chill was down to -40 degrees. Car battery froze solid and the tie rod on my Beemer broke too. I was muy happy to get away from that wintry hell.

Petz contention that repeal of DADT was a set up for an attack on DOMA was validated today. The attack on civil society by the Obama and his hatchet men continues. Is it 2012 yet?
  11. NateFebruary 23, 2011 at 1:50 pm
States decide what marriage is… You know that.
  12. ToddFebruary 23, 2011 at 12:14 pm
ZOMG they gays are taking over! Soon they will force Petz to have sex with another man while a chicken watches! And then we’ll all be doing heroin in the back seat of a rusted out Chevelle while leading a gypsy lifestyle a we run from town to town looking for some one to scam. Dogs and cats, living together… Mass hysteria! Just because two men are allowed to enter into a legally bound contractual relationship and enjoy all if the rights and responsibilities therein. What next?!?!?!? Will one day people of Hispanic descent not be automatically branded an “immigrant?!?!??” They took our jobs!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Berta González-HarperFebruary 23, 2011 at 1:08 pm
@Todd, just for the record I have never been … “automatically branded an “immigrant?!?!??” just because I am an American of Hispanic ancestry. But then again, I speak English, follow the law, don’t hang out with gang bangers, don’t dress like a gang banger wanna be, don’t fly a foreign flag, or disrespect anything else that represents the United States of America either.
  14. ToddFebruary 23, 2011 at 10:43 pm
Humor Berta. You should look into it. Sometimes, its the only thing that makes life bearable.
  15. Gang FangFebruary 23, 2011 at 11:55 pm
Good hair represents the USA, and that mullet of yours is downright disrespectful .
  16. NateFebruary 23, 2011 at 1:51 pm
    Hahaha
  17. Mr PerezFebruary 23, 2011 at 5:23 pm
I almost shot green tea through my nose in laughter!

http://www.mammothmountain.com/docs/assets/McKeon.pdf Fundraiser for Buck’s next Congressional campaign. I can’t think of anything better to do thatn to attend a fundraiser for Buck. By the way, he’s supporting relaxing Wilderness Study Protection for an area near Bodie where a politically connected company wants to potentially put a gold mine but he can’t handle relocating the Cemex mine.
  19. ToddFebruary 23, 2011 at 10:45 pm
Wow, I never realized that Buck’s congressional district stretched all the way the hell up to Mammoth Mountain and beyond. Seriously…. we have the most ass-backward way of slicing up our state into congressional districts…. makes NO sense.
