Isn't this the equivalent of "my dog at homework?" His office says "There was an error in the electronic transmission of the file, and the report was not received by the FEC." Really? The internet ate your filing? That's your excuse?
Everytime I submit something online, I wait around for confirmation. I usually print the confirmation notices out and file them appropriately, or I'll take screenshots. Who just presses the "submit" or "ok" button and then leaves the computer?The key fact out of today's KHTS story is that the FEC does allow a campaign to challenge a fine if there is a "failure of Commission computers or Commission-provided software despite your seeking technical assistance from Commission personnel and resources." But the McKeon's didn't avail themselves of tech support, nor did they appeal the $4,600 fine on the basis that, as the reader above says, the internet ate their filings.
Instead they just quietly paid the fine and now Rogers has a hot new issue to talk about in October.
