- City Council Agenda: Not much on the agenda for next week's City Council meeting save for potentially big and controversial changes to the way the Council & Staff interact with each other and the public. Notably, there's this change, which would seem to muzzle Councilmembers or at least make sure their comments are reported to the City Manager: "Councilmembers shall inform the City Manager or the Communications Manager of any interview or comments made to the media about City projects or issues. " Another proposed change would seem to require Councilmembers provide to the City Manager questions they will have for staff prior to a Council meeting. - Unemployment rate falls to 7.8%, dipping below 8% for the first time in years as the economy adds 178,000 jobs
- Wilk, Headington faced off in a debate yesterday hosted by SCVTV, KHTS & The Signal. The candidates talked about making California more business friendly but also jabbed at each other, with Headington tagging Wilk for his no-taxes pledge. - Meanwhile over at COC, Repbulicans skipped a candidate's forum run by students but Democrats were well-represented with Rogers, Headington and Star Moffat showing up. The Libertarians sent their vice presidential candidate. Wilk only sent a representative to the forum. SIGNAL
- Gas prices have hit at least $4.69 in and around Newhall, reaching levels not seen since June of 2008. They are up ten cents in a week. The Signal says the switch from summer to winter gasoline blends is partly to blame SIGNAL

- 10 percent of SCV homeowners are still using illegal salt based water softeners and the Sanitation District wants to launch a "home inspection pilot" program to "knock on doors of homes where they believe an illegal automatic water softener is still being used." Predictably the Signal comments scream out Wolverine! and Make My Day Big Brother. SIGNAL
- Teens collaborate to make a song in one day on board a John Lennon education bus. KHTS' Stephen Peeples, perhaps the SCV's #1 Beatles expert, goes all out with a 1,000+ word piece on the bus and what the students did KHTS

- High class: "On this date, Sheriff’s deputies got an unusual call. Seems a man was distributing naked pictures of a woman enjoying herself wildly. The guy was driving around Canyon Country, tossing hundreds of graphic photos onto people’s lawns of the bride, on her wedding day, in her very own home neighborhood.
