Another young person dies of heroin, ctd

A reader writes in regarding Carlee Coulter, who died yesterday of a heroin overdose:

Was there just a sea change in media coverage of opiate deaths in the SCV?  It seems that everyone is rushing out to describe this tragedy in great detail rather than the secretive, oblique media reports (if any) without any followup that have been the norm.  And a press conference today to boot?
Now I must wonder if people are going to talk about the real root problem.  All of these deaths seem to follow the same profile, and it is a profile of middle class generational decline.  High school education, where there was some struggle, usually including a stop at Bowman.  No higher education going on.  No real employment prospects.  Is it any shock that this is occurring?
I echo the reader's view on this. There is a profile emerging here. What do we do to change it?
