- KHTS Reporter Mark Archuleta and News Director Carol Rock have been let go from the radio station, removing two solid reporting voices from the local media landscape. Officially budget reasons are to blame for at least Rock's departure, but both she and Archuleta were removed rather quickly from the station's website and the firings were made shortly after McKeon staff visited the station last week. More on this as it develops, but for now- it's fair to ask if KHTS has any news reporting capacity left.
- Einstein Academy organizers were defeated for the third time in their wish to obtain a charter from the SUSD last night. Citing problems with their petition, the school board voted 4-1 to deny the charter. Jeffrey Shapiro of the schools aid SUSD did "everything they could to avoid working with us." How did that anti-Semitic grenade he threw work out? "I think you owe our board an apology and our administrators. How dare you?" one board member asked. - Two local school districts have filed for restraining orders against Eric Yee, the 21 year old former Yale student who was arrested last month after posting 'threats' online pertaining to local schools SIGNAL, DAILY NEWS
- Aerospace Dynamics International will break ground on a new 88,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Santa Clarita tomorrow, according to a news release issued by the SCV Economic Development Corporation. The new facility will manufacture parts for the Airbus A350 XWB, a new extra-wide body airliner that is scheduled to go into service in 2014. No mention in the release about how many jobs the project will bring to the SCV or will the new building will be built. SCV BEACON
