KHTS Responds
In response to your question, we did have a meeting with Morris and Alissa in Buck's office on October 5th. It was a meeting arranged way back in February, and reconfirmed in May, to allow our news staff to meet Alissa in person and have a better communication flow. Alissa was scheduled to travele to Santa Clarita earlier that week. The specific meeting and time were scheduled a week prior to Mark's article on Patricia, so that was pure coincidence.
Stephen Peeples was assigned to cover the remainder of all our political races prior to our meeting with Morris and Alissa so we could remain neutral.
This was known and understood by our news staff days prior to our meeting with Alissa. We still kept the scheduled meeting because we wanted both Carol and Mark to meet Alissa to strengthen their relationship for working together in the future after the election.
I want to stress we made a financial decision to cut back not based on anything to do with our reporting, as evidence shows. Staff needed to be reduced and we had the tough decision of deciding who would be let go. Two of our staff had to go. We are in the process of doing a complete reorganization of our news department.
Time will prove we will remain objective and continue to be the viable up to the minute news source in our Valley.
It looks like KHTS has hired Perry Smith away from the Signal, by the way.
