He refuses to even symbolically endorse Proposition 30, which would help COC and all SCV public schools, in a big way after five years of declining budgets and increasingly crowded classrooms. One reader notes:
Since 2008-2009, COC has faced $16.4 million in cuts from the State, from $80.4 million to $64 million, a 20% cut. If Prop 30 fails, as Wilk apparently wants it to, they'll face another $4.6 million in cuts for a total of $21 million over the past four years. And they'll get to deal with that fun around the same time Wilk escapes town.
The budget cuts at COC have been so bad that COC students put aside $4,000 in the spring to fund a class that would have been canceled this fall.
The rest of the board recognized this insanity can't continue and voted to endorse Prop 30.
Wilk didn't.
Let that inform your vote on November 6.

Wilk sells out COC
Nice of Scott Wilk to vote against endorsing Prop 30. By January, he'll be in the Assembly and COC will be left to deal with over $4 million in crippling cuts while demand for its services has never been higher. Thanks for nothing Board of Trustee Wilk! Don't let the door hit you on the way out.Wilk is getting huzzahs from the over-50 Tea Party types at Ray's Facebook group for this vote. Of course. Their vision for California is one in which vital public institutions are shrunken and scaled back, not supported and built up.
