I love my readers. Two of them read right past the excerpts of that leaked local Republican official's email which called McKeon corrupt (Because really, what kind of revelation was that?) and zeroed in on the fact that local Republicans in positions of power actually think Democrats are communists and socialists in private:
Another:
I don't know whether to be hurt, amused, angered or upset by this. All I know is that in the SCV among local Republicans and since January 2009, it's become fashionable to call Democrats and our duly-elected President a communist or a socialist. And it's not just the crazies who do this, as evidenced by the email I excerpted from this morning.
It goes something like this:
Democrat: I believe in universal healthcare as an idea, and support the Republican idea of an individual mandate to achieve that policy outcome.
Republican response: Let me guess Comrade, your underwear has Hammers and Sickles on it, doesn't it you filthy Red!! Ha!
Democrat: I believe in science and think global climate change is being caused by human activity, and I support legislation that would cap carbon emissions on a declining scale over time while allowing emitters to trade pollution credits for profit
Republican response: Old Frederich Engels and Karl F'n Marx couldn't have come up with a better plan to destroy capitalism! What are you going to do next, hold May Day parades on Lyons Avenue?!? Green is Red!
Democrat: I believe in sensible regulation of the marketplace in order to avoid the boom and bust cycles we've unfortunately become accustomed to.
Republican Response: Hey Stalin, get your KGB jackboots off the throats of America's entrepreneurs! Wolverines!
Democrat: The Fariness Doctrine of the FCC was an interesting idea and deserves a second look
Republican Response: Pardon me Comrade Information Minister, but you can take your dreams of running Pravda and put them in the ground next to your hero Lenin, where it belongs!
It's like a nervous tic or medical condition with these people, like a political version of Tourette's Syndrome. Any input from a Democrat, automatically results in the Communist output from the Republican. It's axiomatic, an involuntary reflex almost.
I'm reminded of the signs at the Tea Party protests held on Valencia Blvd in 2009 and 2010, before the Tea Party rose up against Obama's Politburo:

Why do they continue to call us communists?
Redbaiting? Really? Is this 1927?
The Economist had an article two weeks ago about California initiatives which started with the line "In California, Republicans in statewide office have been hunted to extinction." Now we know why. The people running the Republican party are ridiculous and stuck in some kind o time warp.
Another:
You forgot to mention that not only does every Communist Socialist Democrat (all the same thing, really) hate 'merica, but they are led by an Atheist Muslim Communist Socialist Radical from Kenya! ZOMG!I know, right?

And in case you think this is just over-heated election rhetoric, these photos were taken in April 2009 and 2010! Local Democrats have been dealing with this nonsense for four full years.
And now it's been revealed that even local Republican officials believe the same thing.
I don't remember the communist label being thrown around so much during the Cold War, let alone in the 23 years since it ended.
These people really believe folks like me are communists. We're supposed to vote for these folks?
