A Republican Party of Los Angeles County official privately thinks McKeon is corrupt, but won't admit it in public out of fear of retribution from the RPLAC, according to an email exchange with the official I've received from a disaffected former Ron Paul voter.
I've thought a lot about this and I'm not going to out the official, but I've verified his position in the RPLAC structure and have reviewed the email headers to ensure the email is not counterfeit.
The comments came after the Ron Paul voter challenged the official's endorsement of McKeon in the CA-25 race. The official responded at length:

I sat on this email for a few days, not really knowing what to do with it. I suppose it confirms that even among some local Republicans (the die-hard ones who actually spend time in the County party structure, at least), there is a recognition that McKeon is a liability, a man with loose-ethics and poor judgment, whose sole redeeming quality is that he has an "R" next to his name.
For a group that's worried about communists, they sure know how to toe the party line.

I know that McKeon is corrupt. But a corrupt Republican will work with the President (Romney) or against the President (Obama). So that is better than a Democrat. They always stick together. Note also that the Daily News, which you reference, ended up endorsing McKeon.
Also, as a member of the Republican Central Committee and Executive Board, I could be removed for publicly supporting a Democrat against a Republican.
Despite the fact that he thinks McKeon is corrupt, the official says he recommends voting for McKeon over Rogers because Rogers won't repeal Obamacare, and that means "the balance of power will go to the Communists and Socialists:"
Will the Democrat in CD 25 vote to repeal Obama care? Not likely. If it isn't repealed, the balance of power will go to the Communists and Socialists (because of the added unionized workers) and it will be very difficult to get our country back.
