Shock, disappointment, and sadness. Oh and a bit of bitterness. From CSUN's daily newspaper, the Sundial, which was apparently out at Wilk's celebration party last night:
Republicans here in town spent the last four years calling the President a socialist and calling those who voted for him moochers, thieves and leaches. They've repeated this sort of refrain endlessly to themselves and others until it became a sort of closed loop information system, which no logic or rational thought could penetrate.
Until last night, when something big, disturbing, and earth-shaking penetrated that closed loop: Americans chose Obama again.
And while they've heard that message and recognize it, they're not comprehending its meaning. Rather than reflect on themselves and their party's message, they're blaming the rest of us. They're disappointed in America, and blame the media. They don't understand how the rest of us could possibly have a different vision of America, and one suspects, they believe they're the only real Americans left.
They're retreating further into their shells, in other words. Look at this Facebook post from another SCV conservative who says Obama's re-election means we're back in the USSR!
If local Republicans don't have ears to hear the real message of the 2012 election, perhaps they should take this lesson to heart: don't nominate Massachusetts politicians for President. We Dems learned that lesson the hard way, twice, in 1988 and 2004. Next time, select a John Huntsman and don't get up in his grill during the primaries if he's not as conservative as Barry Goldwater & John Birch.
And stop calling other Republicans RINOs and see what happens, ok?

Romney headed into the election with a 1 percent lead, 49 percent to 48 percent, against Obama, according to the final Gallup poll on Monday.
A shocked Jeannie Atkins, 58, of Newhall said she was “disappointed in the people of America.”
I failed to recognize that the takers vastly outnumber the makers and that the media is king.and later on, when I challenged him:
You speak in generalities and half-measures. The GOP was never anything different than it is today. It is the country that has changed. We went from a center-right nation to a slightly center-left nation to now being a LEFT nation. What follows is European-style Socialism and moral decay as we see in Europe today. The Republicans need to become moderately Socialist if it is to survive as a party. They reluctantly will.But listen, I'd probably be mad at America too if Obama lost last night, as it looked like he would a few weeks ago. So I'm sympathetic. And I want to help.
American needs to become much less Socialist if it is to survive as a nation. Not going to happen.
Either way we will prove, yet again, Socialism kills nations. We will be the next USSR.
