- A Sheriff's deputy and a driver were injured in a collision yesterday at Copper Hill & Calex drive, near McBean. Both suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. Signal commenters say accidents happen at that intersection frequently. SIGNAL

- An Antelope Valley line Metrolink train was stopped yesterday after a passenger "overheard another make reference to a bomb." The train was stopped for about 90 minutes as police searched the train with bomb sniffing dogs and found nothing. SIGNAL
- The Food and Drug Administration yesterday took the unprecedented step of refusing to approve the sale of generic Oxycontin, the narcotic painkiller widely abused around the country. The patent on the drug expired this year, which would have allowed other pharma companies to market and sell cheaper generics. The company that makes Oxycontin says it has reformulated the pill so that it can't be abused. NY TIMES
- Governor Brown is in China on a trade mission and it looks like he's helped score a major win for the Antelope Valley. A Chinese bus-building firm will open a factory next month in Lancaster that builds electric buses. LA TIMES
