The 'Bro Truck' Instagram Contest of 2013

If you travel around metro LA, soon enough you realize that these other communities are lacking something that we have in abundance. The ridiculously raised "Bro Truck":

So with that in mind, we announce the launch of the 2013 SCVTalk Bro Truck Instagram contest. We are looking for the most bro-tastic lifted truck in the SCV. Simply post a photo to Instagram with the hashtag #scvbrotruck and you're entered.

Evidence of actual off-roading, like caked-on mud, is uncharacteristic, and will be counted against you. These trucks are primarily for driving over concrete medians to avoid DUI checkpoints.

Bonus points for height, personalized plates, right-wing bumper stickers, innovative use of energy drink logos (this valley will never tire of new ways to promote Monster Drink), aggressive cleanliness and that extra touch that is so bro-tastic, we haven't even thought of it yet. In other words, we'll know it when we see it.

Again, on Instagram, tag your pic with #scvbrotruck. No locked accounts, obviously. By using the hashtag, we'll assume you're OK with us publishing your photo, even if you don't win. Contest ends on July 5, because of America.

The winner of this contest will receive a gift card to our own temple of Bro-Mex cuisine, Chronic Tacos of Saugus (Don't worry Tex, this one is on me). This is a photo contest, not a car show, but if the photographer can get in touch with the truck owner, we'll buy him a burrito, too.

You do know that women have completely different names for these kind of trucks and their drivers, right? Just checking....

No. Do tell! #BroSickRad I can't wait to get home and take some shots. There are three Bro Trucks on my street. One is a full dually with crew cab, raised about 8 inches, and with boat stickers on the back and James Bond style two inch long spikes on the side, which probably allow the driver to slash Priuses without endangering his BroSickRad truck.

err I should clarify- the spikes are on the highly polished, chrome wheels. So they rotate. It's rad.

Pro tip: if you have an old Instagram of a worthy entry, just add a comment with #scvbrotruck to enter it.

The ultimate would be one of these trucks with a license plate that reads “SML PNIS.”

I'll be sure to photoshop my entry's license plate to "SML PNIS"... you know, for the sake of confidentiality
