- A judge ruled yesterday that Palmdale is indeed violating the CVRA for holding at-large elections that dilute the power of minorities. Kevin Shenkman brought the suit (along with R. Rex Parris I believe) and if the decision is final (ie Palmdale doesn't appeal), the City will pay Shankman's court & legal fees that are "north of $1 million." Doesn't bode well for us does it? - Wednesday's deadline for chloride treatment commenting by the public has come and gone. The Sanitation district says it has received 200 public comments and though there are clues, no solid leads on what the District will choose to do to fix the chloride problem. SMITH at KHTS

- Fancy Latin legal terms seem to indicate that Saugus Union School District won't be able to hold a special election to replace Stephen Winkler by November. - I have seen this guy's signs literally EVERYWHERE in the SCV, so I'm glad the Signal did a story on him. Francisco Gamero, the owner of U-Wash Doggie, had his 2 1/2 year old red Vizsla female dog named Ruby run away on the 4th of July. The guy is on a mission to find her no matter what, spending up to four hours a day on street corners holding signs for her. SIGNAL
- First rabid bats, now a squirrel in the Angeles Nation Forest was found with the plague. SCVNEWS
- Did you know the army used to hold mechanized tank manuevers way up San Francisquito way during the Korean War? Indeed they did; whole regiments of tanks. Also, white reindeer used to hang out near Hart Park where the buffalo are, until a dog got in and killed every last Bambi in the SCV. And finally, back in the early 1980s, Democrats disappeared completely from the SCV as Reagan power and influence and popularity soared. TIME RANGER
- Oh my: A few months ago I Heart SCV mentioned a poet who had once written about the SCV. I don't know if this is the same poet, but we have some fresh new, non-iambic pentameter (I think) poetry about the SCV in the wake of the Powerhouse Fire. Great read; I'm going to teach it to my boy till he memorizes it. LINK
