Unfortunate Pagination

Am I the only one who incorrectly associated the picture on the left with the article on the right at the bottom of page A-1 of today's Signal?

Because what jumped out to me was that a body was found near where TimBen Boydston, Mayor Kellar and other SCV luminaries were digging, complete with giant novelty "Breaking Ground" shovels.

Please tell me I'm not the only one.

OMG. You're not the only one.

Oh man. What's worse is that it was on the front page and not buried inside.

This is the kind of stuff that happens when A. you're short on content and B. paginators are paying more attention to design and making items fit and not paying attention to juxtaposition. Ugh.

OMG. The Signal is so messed up. Why are they still in business.

Ok. Who is their editor? Obviously, this person isn't doing the job.

This is so Quarked. I could see this happening with InDesign CS2 but no way should this happen in the days of Creative Cloud. Give me Skip Newhall and manual paste up any day. Being back Tell it to The Signal, no the one before that. No, not that one, the one before that when the cranks would moan into an answering machine and talk about the Menendez brothers and Jill Klajic. Besides, I like novelty checks better than golden shovels, and both are better than giant scissors.

    How did this get unnoticed?

When I saw the page I noticed the heading over the photo.... When Jeff posted this I thought, "Only a moron would be fooled by that..." So I showed it to a couple neighbors, no one thought the photo was connected to the missing woman story. Oh well.

I showed this to my boyfriend and he thought it such a bad error.
