- Double Your Checkpoint, Double Your...Fun?: Friday night brought two, count 'em, two DUI/license checkpoints, which resulted in a dozen arrests (zero DUI arrests). I do take some issue with this note in Dale Fairclough's report: "According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, checkpoints have provided the most effective documented results of any of the DUI enforcement strategies." Unless things have radically changed in the nearly four years since I left The Signal (it's possible), there are a lot of DUI arrests in this town, but the majority aren't necessarily happening at checkpoints.
