- City of LA Planners Already working on Las Lomas? Someone at the Los Angeles City Attorney's office leaked a confidential memo that "said city leaders would be breaking the law if they stop processing development applications for the controversial Las Lomas development," according to the Daily News. The matter relates to news from a few months ago in which media outlets reported that the developer of Las Lomas, Dan Palmer Inc, would pay City of LA Planners to work on planning and environmental issues for the 5,500 home development in the hills of the Newhall Pass. A city attorney reviewing the matter says Palmer has already paid the City to work on the project and that the city could be sued if it stops. - Mother/Son Burglary Duo Found Guilty: Michael Lugo, 30, got more than he bargained for when he ran into the backyard of a Canyon Country home he was hoping to burglarize in October 2006. He ran into homeowner Nadine Teter, who promptly shot him three times with a gun. Lugo managed to run back to the front of the house and got into the car with his mother, who subsequently flagged down deputies who were en route to Teter's house. The pair were found guilty yesterday on multiple counts of burglary and could face up to 10 years in prison. - White Supremacists allegedly start fight at Chuy's, get arrested: The Signal and KHTS report that two white men, Travis Wanke, 28, and Christopher Johnsen, 20, were asked to leave Chuy's around 10pm on Tuesday night, but before they left, they "took off their shirts, reportedly exposing swastikas and other white surpemacist tattoos." The men then allegedly begans shouting racial epithets at a 22 year old black patron who was at Chuy's with some friends. Deputies arrived later and arrested the pair, charging one with assault, the other with battery and both with "suspicion of hate crimes and conspiracy to commit a crime." Carol Rock has more
