Will he hold to his campaign promise to “require employers in our city use e-Verify to ensure the legal status of workers,” and not let “illegal aliens gather and loiter in public each and every day?”

One gets the feeling Gauny fancies himself a sort of Sheriff Joe Arpaio, so it’ll be interesting to see how he measures up to the high bar he set for himself. Do his boosters expect not to see day laborers hanging out in front of AV Equipment Rental or on Sierra Highway anymore? Is he going to do anything to go after the casual Valencia husband who needs some day laborer help to trim his hedges, mow his lawn, or move his family?
How does he plan to compel the Sheriff’s Department to follow new ordinances that might conflict with LASD policy? How are the “American-first” laws and ordinances he plans to craft going to distinguish between illegal border jumper and garden variety Mexican?
