- Sheriff’s detectives use laser measuring devices in deadly July 4 accident investigation. SIGNAL This suggests that investigators want to determine the speed of the cars involved. Lead detective reiterates that video evidence shows that the Infiniti “clearly” ran a red light. The investigative team plans to send results of investigation to DA next week. (Myers)

- LTE states that 4th of July parade sucked and notes the now 31 year absence of marching bands despite the doubling of high schools since the last confirmed use of bands in 1979. Meanwhile, the Huntington Beach parade boasts five times more entries (300) and included at least two marching bands (Huntington Beach High School and the St. Cloud (MN) All City Band.) (Myers)
