One man rampage through Chatsworth, Newhall and Saugus

Did you see the Sheriff’s Press release about a certain Aaron Clay Tanner, suspected of stabbing his own mother, carjacking a woman in Newhall (and kidnapping her four year old), crashing that car, stealing a Sheriff’s patrol car, then driving it off a 100 foot embankment?

Yeah, it all went down yesterday evening in Chatsworth, Newhall and Saugus:

A 30-year old Chatsworth man is in custody in Santa Clarita after a wild one-man crime spree for which he will be booked for attempted murder, kidnapping, carjacking, attempted carjacking, auto theft, assault with a deadly weapon, evading arrest, and felony hit and run (with injuries) as soon as he is physically able, authorities said.

Aaron Clay Tanner is in serious condition in a local hospital, due to multiple traffic collisions and acts of violence. His bail will likely be approximately $500,000, according to a news release from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.

SIGNAL

The child is okay, but during his spree, Tanner allegedly injured several Deputies by biting them.

My husband and his coworker were behind this man on the 5 freeway last night. They witnessed the stabbing, and the woman got into my husband’s coworker’s vehicle and they took her to the hospital. So scary!!!

Oh, by the way, he reported this to 911, and the 911 operator would not report it. She told them to file a report at the hospital. This is a BIG PROBLEM.

This seems odd…. I’m sure there is more to the story here.

Todd, I hope so. I only know what my husband told me, and that is that the 911 operator said that if the woman (who was bleeding profusely and nearly incoherent) didn’t want to press charges, there was nothing the operator could do. My husband hung up and called back, getting a different operator. This operator told my husband that he was dealing with calls about a carjacking, kidnapping, etc. (same guy, obviously) and couldn’t help. I can’t help but think that if the first operator would’ve taken my husband’s call seriously, that woman, that child, and that deputy would not have been involved.

I was in the area when the drama went down on Carl Boyer and Golden Valley where he was in the PT Cruiser. Had no idea what was happening at the time. Crazy. The whole thing smells of under the influence of some sort of drug…. the guy just kept going and going and going.

This is one individual where I would fully support the police dept putting several magazines of rounds into him.

Indeed, if this fellow had pulled this stunt in Long Beach, he’d be dead. According to today’s Signal article, he went through a barrier and over an embankment, down 100 feet in the patrol car, which rolled and caught fire. As deputies prepared to “rescue” him from the car, he was reaching for a rifle to shoot them.
