Thought one might criticize some weak writing and sentence construction in this post one cannot argue that it is not heartfelt and passionate. One Joe Messina, a perenniel outsider looking in to the local Republican party establishment, bemoans the big footing tactics of local party elites in putting down the rank and file of which he numbers himself.
I find particularly heartbreaking his own experience of borderline abuse when the “movers and shakers” assured him during his many unsuccessful runs for school board that they needed to publicly support the preferred candidate while feverishly working for him “behind the scenes” while he self funded his campaign and went down to defeat after defeat before narrowly defeating the preferred candidate who less than one year earlier was a registered Democrat.
Particularly chilling were threats against the livelihood of those who would not fall in line, which we know to be absolutely true after elites wrote letters to Kevin Korenthal’s employer in response to his renegade run for Castaic Lake Water Board.
No matter what one’s politics, one can only feel sympathy for Joe and his earnest, yet marginalized, fellow travelers.
